Firstly I have a R32 GTST with a Rwd Rb26 conversion.. The loom and full running gear is Rb26 so nothing is Rb20 in the car at all!

So the engine is in, Gearbox just got put in but they didnt plug up the gearbox so I gotta take it back and the custom tailshaft is being made this week.

Not everything is plugged up etc looms..but everything is in place. Dash lights work and clock but nothing else on the dash. Starter motor, Speedo drive etc still need to be plugged up. Some bolts are missing underneath the car..like steering column.. so pretty much the whole car needs to have a good look through.

Anyways once I get the tailshaft and I have gotton the gearbox all plugged up im thinking about taking the car to Classic Performance? Ive heard Ashley knows what he is doing.. etc he has a Rb26 in a commondore ute and only charges $88 an hour...

Anyone know where I should go and who to see... Ive called up More Power and they didnt seem to keen to touch the car. I just wanna take the car somewhere where they can finish it off and I can come pick it up and drive it home.

Any Suggestions in what I should do?

I would do a lot myself but I am 3 months Pregnant so no hope for me in touching the car...

first of all wow and congrats

give other workshops around adelaide a call.....boost wor, graham west, willall, smooth garage

Classic Performance will sort you out.

Ashley has also built plenty of bullett-proof RB25's.

And I take my GTR there and swear by them.

Wouldn't touch the other few ones. Heard too much bad shit about that bunch.

I wouldn't listen to any 'second hand' information from people in Adelaide. Too many people with no idea and just like to gossip like little bitches. I know a few personal experiences or direct experiences of some workshops where talk might be true, but I also know of a lot of stories that are also unfounded and based on car owners with no idea, or unreasonable expectations.

To be honest I've never heard of Classic Performance but Ashley seems to get a good wrap :) After many years in the scene you get to know your own crowd and become loyal to people. Sounds like you're on a winner though.

Kahli, have a chat to Nicko or Ben from Smooth Garage. Not sure how busy they are now, but they may be keen to have it finished up for you

And i recommend not.

Willall.

If you trusted them to start work on your car, let them finish the work.

If you take it anywhere else you are going to get absolutely raped price-wise, as it is not their project.

I'd hit up smooth garage and willall

I've had niko and benny work on my cars and have nothing bad to say about them and they are quite helpfull. I own nikos old s13 and turned it into my drifter and it loves the thrashing it gets and it built very well by smooth.

I've also owned martin donnans old 33 4 door with a forged 26 init. The build quality was great and was set up really well. Someone deffenetly knew what they where doing there.

Ive used a few of the other import workshops and haven't been as happy as I am with the ones above. But for reffence I haven't used classics before but my mate did and another ones does and they are also quite happy with the results.

Hey guys cheers for the come backs.. and also support (:

Im running a Rwd Rb26 gearbox which i got custom done... as I stated its all rb26 running gear lol

Yeah i used to go to smooth garage ..nice blokes but ive had a bad experience years ago.. Might have to give them another chance (:

I spoke to Ashley and he seemed like he knew what he was saying.. and sounded pretty confident.

Cheers for the help!!!

and your how old again?

and your how old again?

And that is relevant to who will fix her car, how?

Kahli, there's lots of good suggestions here, best of all; talk to the people. It's all well and good everyone telling you where to go, but if you go to a place recommended and you just don't get on with them, it doesn't really make for a pleasant experience

and your how old again?

I fail to see how this is any of your business reguardless?

Are you suggesting not old enough?... Who are you to judge on 'old enough' or even to judge at all?

ive known a few guys who have had plenty of work done by both boostworx and wilall, and have recommended them strongly.

i havent used either myself, but i was always planning on getting wilall to tune my 200.

and your how old again?
i was merely asking a question

ffs guys get over it.

i wasnt getting at anything.

but im not interested in playing these stupid little games so i wont be replying again on this matter

i know its already been covered, but keep your f**kin opinions to yourself eh? no matter what you say after the fact, that was an obvious bait. the last thing she needs is people (like you) getting up on a high horse and throwing down shit like that. next time you feel the need to say something like that, buy a supercharger instead.

best of luck with the pregnancy and the car kahli.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
