Thanks Jason.

I am really enthused to keep this project rolling along. I am a bit fazed as to what to do next... The front suspension needs to be changed as the left hand side damper is shot but I cannot make up my mind if I should do this for all four corners or just the fronts. I think I will end up doing all.

Also the engine and box are going to come out in the near future. I want to do the bearings in the gearbox and change the turbos - but i'll have to wait until I get the funds to buy the turbos... Pulling the engine will also give me a great opportunity to spray the engine bay and paint all the accessories/ancilliaries back into their lovely orginal unmolested colours.

What do you think about the engine covers? Should I do them the N1 silver in keeping with the car? I am currently leaning towards painting them the lovely red/pinky colour that some of the bnr34's had....

Always loved the later model silver 32 gtr's. There was a silver 93 I wanted that was awesome when I imported my 89 but was still fetching too much, and with more expensive sevs compliance I went for the 89. I am thinking I might end up with silver from my respray! Dark front lip and dark / black wheels - basically trying to make it look like a 93/4.

Look forward to seeing this one progress :D

Oh - and 34 red for the engine could be the go will look good - I think you need to have some contrast against the silver - if you do the engine I think it will end up too much. Each to their own though it has to be yours!

OK.

I finally have gotten round to taking some pictures of the car now its back! I need to give it a wash and take it out to a nicer location than my driveway to truly dothe finished result justice though.

One thing I am not overly happy on is the colour of the grill... I want to paint it black - thoughts? Other than that, for a cheap tidy up of the car it has come out well...

I have to say I love the N1 kit :domokun:

If you mean the grill in front of the intercooler, then definitely paint it black.

It's looking great other than that.

Yeah thats the one... It was meant to be painted black - but the boss forgot and I wasnt working when he did fab'ed and installed the new grill... I think I will have to pull the bar and paint it... what a pain in the ass

Cheers Paul! Yeah the N1 bar looks great - I really like the look of it with the bonnet lip as well...

Shame I am going to have to pull the front bar off to paint the grill...

A light coat of matte black on the cooler hasn't effected my coolers efficiency, and without the mesh there is more air flow to remove the heat from the I/C.

Just my 2 cents though.

Thanks for the input guys. I am not worried about the efficiency of the cooler as I plan on upgrading it later down the track when I get into engine mods.

I dont think a grill is going to have a noticeable imapact on air flow - not at the power levels I have now or am looking to achieve, but will stop the bugs getting onto the cooler and I reckon they look good...

ive had my cooler re-done and from the seat of the pants theres been no difference in performance

Cheers onho - I think there would be a tiny difference, but you're right I dont think you'd be able to tell it at all. At this stage of the game I am not going for outright performance and am not flogging the car so it wouldnt make much of a difference at all...

I have been tossing around the idea of what suspension to get... I have really nice Ohlins adjustable (damper only) in the back and absolute crap shocks in the front. The front left is knocking and is leaking oil so it is deinfately time to upgrade the shocks at the very least... I am trying to find out prices for a set of Ohlins for the front (but am slightly scared of what price they'll come out to be), or am thinking that I will sell the Ohlins in the back and get some BC's. THoughtS?

Cheers Hylian!

No issues with oil pump failures yet... My understanding is they only shit themselves when given high revs with big power - and at any rate this is the 94 model which means it has the better crank (same engine as R33 and r34)... I drive it on the highway a lot which means I dont flog it apart from getting it up to speed... I need to do suspension and turbo's before beating it too hard...

nice looking car ay, my recomends is to buy r34 gtr wheels for ur gtr, they look tuff on r32's, im looking at buyin a pair for my gtr very soon. good luck with it all ill keep it touch with this one.

also quick question, ur blue lights in the dash did u install them by urself??

dan

Yeah mate the r34 rims do look sex on bnr32s... The more I develop the car the more I like the thought of using as much genuine nissan parts - making the bnr32 what into an ultimate NISSAN special.

Yep, my dash lights are sexy as blue and yes I installed them myself... Not to hard if your willing to get into it and have a go!

if u dont want the r34 wheels go the bbs rims that came out on the v-spec model :P

whats ur next upgrade to your car? my car is fairly stock itself, only changed the airfilter box to apexi power intake kit, changed all the heater hoses, and car already came with aftermarket dump pipes and hks drager exhaust, love the zaust so quiet.

next week i should be purchasing a new alloy radiator from justjap and prob cooling plates

There are a couple of things I need to do to the car... My turbo seals are rooted and shooting oil into the exhaust so I plan on upgrading the suckers within the next couple of months.... Just gathering parts for it now... To do that I plan on pulling the engine and gearbox which will allow me to clean the engine bay (possibly paint it as well), paint the engine covers, tidy up all the ancilliaries and importantly change the input shaft bearing in the gearbox as it is gettting a bit noisy...

Then I will do the suspension - thinking either Teins or the BC gear - heard good reports about the BC gear... Do the brakes and most likely last on the list will be the wheels... I know they may the car look porn but I want reliable fun first and foremost.

yeh i know what you mean, sounds good on what your planning.

hopefully by xmas i should have a pair of HKS GTR'S to put in running 800cc sard injectors with maybe sard fuel rail or hks with bosch fuel pump, and few other things aswel.

i seen your engine bay, from my eye sight is that white inside the engine bay?? or silver? like the n1 bonnet lip too looks tuff from the front

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
