All in all I would get Christian (Iron Chef) to bring one in for you - his guys in Japan do mechanical checks and can take 100s of photos .... and remember, any car you can bring in for $40k landed, any car yard is going to be putting at least $10k mark-up on it. I would much rather put that sort of money to better uses ....

Ah, but then it comes down to how much of that mark up you actually pay when the deal is done. Importer or yard, they aren't in it for the fun of it alone. It is also worth bearing in mind the ease of walking in, seeing something you like, getting it checked out (or doing it yourself there and then if you have the ability) and driving it out - no waiting, no stuff ups, transit damage, parts stolen in transit, compliance issues, the list could go on. I've heard first hand just as many horror stories of importing deals that turned sour.

At the end of the day both options have pros and cons. The fact is there are decent cars out there in yards and there are decent cars available through the importers.

I am also an ex employee and I totally agree with Weezy. All the cars receive a full major service, all dents and scratches fixed and yes, if it needs a respray, it will get one. They do ask for top dollar but, the cars are top quality. Rob is the fussiest guy EVER. I also own an ex Sinergy R33 and it is a very nice example if I can say so Myself.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I see this is an old thread but felt I'd put in my 2cents worth anyways. After many visits to redline and synergy and hours of conversations, both my other half and I came out with a wealth of knowledge about imports. I found the sales team at both yards very helpful. Both yards were looking for around the same price for what we were after. As for the respraying on every car, there were a few minor scratches on almost everything we looked at in both yards. We ended up buying 2 rs4 stags from redline as Dave gave us a fantastic deal. Both are very clean with reasonable ks for cars of such an age. Both came with full log books and compliance certificates. I have nothing but praise for both yards. As for iron chef- I wish I knew about them whilst we were on the hunt. I've heard nothing but good things about them. ;)

don't go trusting that man too much :P

i honesty can not see a bad point in having a car touched up or "re-sprayed" as the new owner of the car is getting the best example of the car as possible i have talked to rob at Sinergy when i was looking for a stagea and he sat me down and asked me what i was looking for and what kind of specs i was looking for and he was more then help, granted they are pricey but to each their own its the qualitiy of the car is the reason for the price, shit car=low price. but i think that when i am looking at a new car ill be heading over to Iron Chef for it.

Thats my 2 cents

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
