Finally got around to properly installing everything this arvo and getting rid of my old sub box that took up half the boot. Please excuse the video sound - the sub does not really distort that much - the camera does not take great audio (and the front Soundstream splits are not quite as bright as they seem in the video either). The setup does sound good, and will sound better with some tuning and refining.

FYI I bought the sub-box and 8" JL Audio sub from a USA Ebay seller .... US$500 delivered to my door - a great price I think. Yes I am aware the Boss amp is a piece of junk, but I will get a decent amp later on - it will have to do for now.

Enjoy

haha so you figured out I was already a member  .... yeah haven't made many posts though. I was going to do a full-on CarPC install in my R34, but lost interest. TBH I really don't have the time to go troll ANOTHER forum .... but I will call in from time to time :O

not bad. put a cover over that sub though. wouldnt want something flying into it at speed.

mosoto, not too many people on that forum anymore. I go in there opccasionally.

10yrs old & 60,000 readers monthly, nope no-one goes there anymore ;)

There's still quite a few "old" faces on there so to speak but as one would expect, quite a few new faces with all the same questions.

Sometimes gets a bit repetative but what forum doesn't hey?

I'm just waiting on a few remaining bits to get here and I can start getting my gear into the V35, looking forward to it too as it's going to be a K.A. system :3some:

mark,

yep thats the point I was getting at. (happy to give you another side to the story as well.)

in regard to forums - this one is not too bad at repetition. bit of organisation fixes most things like that. a good admin team helps too.

(sorry for the minor hijack andrew.)

In the V35 coupe the jack and spare are in the centre of the car with a timber sheet covering it, which can still accessed with the sub box in (the timber panel does no go the whole width of the car - just the centre part). I folded the carpet under the sub box back to just under the edge of it so you can still lift up the timber sheet to reveal the spare and jack.

Awesomest!

Beats having the sub flying around in the back as you make a turn :D. I saw a similar box on ebay usa but the postage killed my interest.

Although i think i asked an aussie seller on eBay once and he can make a custom sub enclosure for v35 for a decent price if we can get a group buy going.

I'll double check and let you guys know.

Hey Andrew,

Nice job! It's giving me a yerning for a bit more bass in the V36 :( I have a nice Alpine sub out of the R34 in the cupboard, has me thinking now.

Well the thinking has been done :) Made a box and got rid of the BOSE amps and put in a 5 channel Amp. just need to replace all the other speakers now :P

Pic1 masked up. 2 glassed. 3 deadener fitted. 4 covered. 5 amp wired up. 6 finished.

Anyone seen any bass, mid, tweeter sets? All I can find are splits.

Depends on your budget & ears!!!

If you are wanting 3way sets there are Hybrid Audio (HAT), Focal, Dynaudio, Rainbow, DLS, Morel, Hertz & seas who all produce 3way sets.

as for speakers - rainbow do 3 way sets. give me a call. (have your wallet out as they can be pricey.)

    • I'll probably be putting the shit box back on the dyno again soon, I want to dial in the closed loop boost control properly. I'll have a camera facing the car/motor for fun too. Just note, there are essentially 3x 10AN inlets going into the catch can and 1x going back to the intake pipe. Most of the time the catch can "return" to the sump actually is the crank case breather, pushing air out.
    • I have the R3C with a Nismo slave and by no means does it behave like a stocker, it ain’t THAT bad. On take off just give a bit more throttle than you would say a coppermix and it’s fine. It will not slip though.
    • Okay. Final round of testing done. Got a friend to hook up a fancy scanner to the car and we also ran some compression and leakdown tests, she is healthy.  The MAF was definitely the culprit. So for future reference anyone with similar issues that find this thread. I suggest the following steps, in order of affordability:   Check your spark plugs for any fouling, replace plugs if they are bad or re adjust the gaps making it narrower (0.8mm would be good). Check every coil's resistance with a multimeter. It can be done by probing the IB and G pins on the coil pack. Resistance should be around 1.4 (+/- 0.1) Ohms Check the MAF. If you have Nissan connect or a good scanner with the 14 adapter it should allow you to see the voltage on the MAF reading should be around 1.1 - 1.2V when car is idling. But if you don't, buy a new MAF from Amazon and test, then return it. (For instance, I got a Chinese one for $40 that was reporting 1.3v on idle). If you still have scanner, you can run tests on the injectors to see if they are working, just remember to unplug the fuel pump fuse/relay and have no pressure on the line. Then listen for the noises that the injectors make. Clean/replace injectors as needed. Once you find the issue and fix, order thousands of dollars worth of OEM parts to refresh unrelated things (Optional)   PS: Thanks to the absolute legends of this forum for the responses and help to someone that went a bit over their head. • Ha ha ha, so they stopped the bearings spinning on the one you want, but then decided the crank hub should slip instead 😛   Stick to RB, at least you can work on it yourself. And now it doesn't smell of vapour   Also I still believe there's a chance your new flap doesn't "pop", as even though the engine might breath hard, it has a direct path with no restriction to the inlet, which when on boost should pull a bit of suction for you. If you do get pressure in the catch can id be very intrigued. Time to put a boost gauge on it, and a session at the track, then solid cover your vent and do another session
