Hi Guys,

Well last week my relationship status changed and as a result need to find a place to live...the only issue is i don't have any of the below:

bed

TV

Washing Machine/Dryer

Fridge/Freezer

Drawers/cupboards

TV stand/cabinet

basically anything else you'd need to be able to successfully live by yourself (lamps etc)

Wondering if anyone has any of this stuff for sale/giveaway...or could point me in the right direction.

Obviously there's things like garage sales/ebay that i can sus out..but yeah..any help would be appreciated.

Trading post and your local paper's classifieds would be a good place to look. Salvos / Vinnies might also have some of the stuff you are after :)

If you are after a cheap bed in a hurry, I suggest going to a camping shop and picking up a swag and a sleeping bag. This will keep you warm and relatively comfortable, as well as a handy item to have in the car after a long, hard night on the cans

At this point I’d like to point out that the TV / TV cabinet is really a luxury and probably should be considered last

I have a Foz with towbar Nick. I don't have a box trailer etc tho'

I have time after 11.30 on an occasional Sunday when church finishes to drive around and pick up/deliver stuff.

Edit* Got a sleeping bag, as Matt suggested.

I can get hold of a rear projection for you, think it's about 60ish cm, my parents said they were going to give it to my grand parents. But i'm sure they have a working TV already, maybe you will end up with their tv instead, think they had a 40cm rear projection. I'll let you know when I talk to everyone next.

Cant help you with much. But I would suggest vinnies or salvos store. (one on parramatta rd Ashfield. Just past bunnings is masive) not only do you get cheap stuff. Its helping out the charity too.

I just went through a similar situation as you early this year and thats what i did. Furnished a 1br apartment for $500ish (Sofa bed, bed frame (i had a mattress), coffee table, kitchen table/chairs, lamps, bed side table, chest of draws, washing machine).

Just remember to have a van or trailer as they wont sell big stuff too you unless you can take it right then and there.

PS. Sorry to hear about the bust up.

I have a disassembled queen bed+mattress+2 x bedside tables. It's very girly though (was my gf's old bed).

And in light of the above posts, I'm pretty sure she got it from Fantastic too.

I think we've used the slats for something else though hold on I'll go check.

When I moved into my first place, i bought a bunch of stuff from Fantastic and Ikea, it's only been a couple of years but its all still going strong today. Fantastic often has some pretty good deals as well, i got a 3 seater + 2 recliners for $1000

Didn't you only just get married? :D or am I thinking of someone else..

Really sorry to hear anyway

Yeah as said, Fantastic Furniture is good... Oz Design has some good bargains too.

Keep an eye out for an older TV as a freebie!!.... people are always them giving away cos you can't sell them now (the ones with the big backs :P)

Does your paper have one of those "free or under $50" type sections - might find a bargain in there?

Ohh and try ebay too!!

If you want a TV and can pick up on the Nth Shore you can have my shop TV. Is only a CRT 50cm I think. I've got a standard def digital tuner for it.

If you can swing the financing check into some of the 0-interest deals going on. Wife and I did that with our dining furniture and outdoor stuff. Was good so we could pay it down in our own time - had like 40 months to do it. If you can work it into your budget then gives you a way to buy nicer stuff.

Good luck with it.

I can keep a look out, i live in a complex of about 800 apartments and generally if people are getting rid of still-decent things like tv's (the big back ones), chairs, fans etc they leave them in the carpark, got myself 2 bar stools recently that were in fine condition!

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
