Does anyone have RB74's on the front that make absolutely NO NOISE at all? Coz I tried about 3 times installing them with the shims and with/without glue, bedded them in properly each time, machined the rotors, but just couldn't get rid of it!
I have had them on the front of my R33 GTS-t with DBA4000 Slotted rotors for about 8mths now and they don't squeel at all, never once. I've punished them a fair bit too in the last week whilst sorting out some other brake issues and i've found that the harder you hit them the harder they bite back.

I did have Greg at RaceBrakes bed them in for me too (well worth the extra $50 odd, I gained alot more than $50 just in braking technique and other bits n pieces he noticed with my car).

First brake he's like "Yup you got air in the rear lines", about the 3rd brake he says "Your front ride height is too low, your car is kangarooing and losing braking distance/effect". The list goes on.... I have certainly never had that level of service anywhere before.

I'll be back there next week getting some more work done :P

Everything you have just stated are similar to the RB74's, the only difference is that the RB's require a proper bedding in process and that they have a higher operating temp rating...

RB74's are still bloody dusty so I am wondering if you have tried both, I have and yes for intended track use use the RB74's its the Metal Kings that fudge your disks, ultimates not nearly as bad.

The RB74's are dusty, but it takes about 1000km to accumulate the same amount of dust that an Ultimate gets in 100. In my experience anyway. Also my RB's don't squeal, but every pair of Ultimates I've had in the past do (well 2 pairs), and loudly. The RB's also wear discs slightly (as do any hard pad) but again less than the Ultimates in my experience.

I thought both Ultimates and RB's were rated to 550 degrees.

Edit: Well Zahos says that Ultimates chew discs more than Ultimates. My Ultimates were on a different car (Commodore) so maybe with the same car the RB's chew them more. But my disc wear is much less now than it was on the Commodore.

Also, I *can* get the RB's to squeal on certain slowdowns, but it takes a certain amount of pressure/deceleration and it's not a normal one. On most journeys my pads don't make any noise at all. With the Ultimates I had they squealed from new on regular stopping. I even tried sanding them down and machining discs, but the noise came back really quickly.

Have used RB74s on my last car, and the skyline. Very happy with the performance - an excellent stopping compound - even better when hotter. BUT damn noisy.

Just bought a set of Endless pads for the front, will go in (hopefully) this weekend and I'll report back.

I changed the RB74s for Endless pads today.

I was always impressed with the RB74, until I pulled them out. They have overheated and cracked, admittedly I do give them a hard time - but they are supposed to be a track compound - I haven't seen a track with them yet.

I've posted pics of them, decide what you like of them. I still think that val for money is good, but now after seeing that all four pads were cracked, I'm not so thrilled.

PS the Endless pads are damn nice under pedal - great feel and initial response... In time we will see how they handle the pressure :D

I had my brake pads changed to a brand called "Hawk" today ..... cost me a packet and i got them at trade price too but you will not buy a better brake pad ...... they work so well .... a little too well ..... after bedding them in they had my discs so hot they had turned blue. But i have had a couple of people drive my car afterwards and the first thing they have all said is "where can i get your brake pads?"

Story with my Bendix was .... i got Bendix Ultimates fitted to the rear by a friend that was all good ... then it was time to get front ones done so i took them to a proper place to get them done and i only found out today instead of fitting Ultimates like i asked ..... Bendix Standards got fitted and it was just not working! Took it back to same place to get looked at and they said i needed new rotors :D ..... so got a second opinion!! ripped :P

Ronin I've seen a few pads coming out in the pits at bathurst working for brad jones and they look a lot worse. I wouldn't be too worried about those at all. Seen some beauties coming out of trucks when I was swinging spanners on them too.

Keen to hear all about the endless pads as well so keep us posted.

Lauren, blue is a beautiful colour for discs :D sound like great pads.

I'm using 300zx factory rear pads on standard discs. I use these for both street and track days. Excellent combo indeed. Little dust and work a treat.

On the fronts I use EBC Greens with drilled and slotted DBA discs for the street. On track days I use Bendix Ultimates only because they are hard and cheap(would NEVER run them on the Street) with the factory discs. Jimx's comment are correct,,,Tragic cheap pad, best left for shitboxes.

I am also running Braided brake hoses, Cusco Master cylinder brace and Motal Fluid.

What about an out-braking competition, now that would be different and no I'm not running ABS.

Neil.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
