Carbon Fibre Supra

That Supra is supposedly Carbon Fibre and 1287 kg which is a HUGE weight loss, that's with the roll cage. Apparely they did this "CUSTOM" carbon job themselves, say I could find a fabricator, would the cost go down and/or would the quality of the carbon parts become low? I'm generally talking about carbon by the way so whatever the car.

If you found a really good fabricator.. And he was gay.. And you blew him 4 times a day.. And gargled just to show off.. Maybe.. And then maybe he will spend the hours upon hours of making all the items.. Even then he'll prob wanna claim your virginity

it say right on that page that they spent 30,000 dollars to do it themselves. So right there is you cost of materials. Do you have 30,000 to throw at an already 30,000 dollar car? well now add 30,000 more because that's probably what it would take to have someone slave over this. I'm done with this thread.

I know you're talking about the R34 but have you considered the R32 with the price saving and already lighter weight? Most track and drag owners use the R32 for the very purpose of going lightweight. Also, you don't have to replace EVERY part with a carbon counterpart, sometimes carbon isn't always better especially when compared to air ;-)

Having said that, $10k is a great deal considering the asking prices of reprays around here!

carbon doors - there were many to choose from starting at around 2000 for the shitty seibon ones which they say are bolt on no problems but believe me there is alot of f**kiong around the best ones i found were from sunline also but u r looking at 3000-4000

Were the Seibon carbon doors no good? Are they 100% carbon fibre or are they fibreglass with carbon skin?

I thought they were a good product...

i only found a couple of companies thaty made the full door out of carbon, price was extremely high over 5000, the seibon ones thet i have played around with on my mates evo were the biggest flamin mongrel of a thing to fit, they say straight fit so they should bolt on and a lil massage and they should fit yeah....dicks mate...this thing was at the panel shop for 3 weeks just for the doors.

I mean produce the carbon parts yourself.

Carbon can be expensive depending on the Type, and Labour even more if getting parts manufactured through companies.

The only other thing you can do is Barter...

What do you do for a living? I will be starting to mold R34 GTR parts in the coming months.

What did you mean by "build the carbon yourself", I can't do it that's for sure but even if I found someone who can, isn't the cost of the material the issue or is labor what makes them so expensive?

    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
