So they are gonna make money out of it??

Already started is it? Ken is at it again..

Commodore got done

post-1327-1280295328_thumb.jpg

Seen a show on Foxtel which had cars in America which were crushed, made Mark cry seeing some old school muscle as well as Euro and Jap cars being crushed, they didnt even remove a thing, painfull to watch.

Ok, let me get this straight,

Deputy Commissioner Ken Lay said cars that had an acceptable safety rating would be sold rather than crushed.

"If we permanently seize a vehicle that is not of a high safety standard, in that it doesn't have features such as ABS brakes and airbags, I cannot, in good conscience, send that vehicle back into the community," Mr Lay said.

The car that is crushed, it's a VT Commodore and last time I checked, they have dual airbag and ABS.

Am I missing something there?

They had a single airbag didn't they? And if he's taken out the airbag and replaced with a SC Auto spec wheel that would explain them not bothering to get the thing in roadworthy condition for sale...

Cars should be sold to wreckers and listed as write offs, not crushed. Crushing is just a vindictive waste of time. Doesn't get done to drunk drivers' cars, but that's because their cars aren't really a pride and joy to be stomped on...very immature solution.

Hahaha another well thought out strategy...

Solution:

Cars that are owned by third parties, such as a bank, will be sold to cover the debt with the remainder going to victims of road trauma.

Get a loan for your car with the slowest repayments possible, that way they you only loose the amount you have paid off the loan!

If its just an unoptioned Executive its got a Drivers Airbag and IRS. Fully optioned series 2 Berlina has dual airbags, side airbags, traction control.

+1

I completely agree they shouldnt be crushed its a pointless waste of time and money for what is in essence a publicity stunt. People could use the panels off these crashed cars to repair their cars in the future and in the words of an enviromentalist "Keep old cars on the road for longer because it does less enviromental damage than making a new one". Just sell them to the wreckers like you say, make some cash and it helps everyone in the community with an influx of cheap parts.

Exactly, the only people that get done the third time have a piece of crap car and dont care about it. Tell me if you had a 100k GTR you wouldnt just put it in the garage after the second time. Go out and buy a piece of crap, get caught hoon driving in it and gladly hand the keys over.

Does it reset after the third time? Then bring out 100k+ GTR

if i ever have them try to come and crush my car (very unlikely never lost any points etc) - there will be a huge car chase on the news where i attempt to drive from aus to another country - HMAS SKYLINE SETS SAIL!

Thats exactly what happened to the first guy that got done in QLD. He booted off from the cops, stripped the car to a shell and put it on his front lawn for the cops to collect.

I'm pretty sure they have dual airbags and ABS - my older brother had one years ago, it was early model Executive btw.

i wrecken they just wanted to set an example of what they going to do...even if it meant it was reasonable to crush this guys car or not...But clearly it not going to stop anyone doing stupid things on the road...people who care about their car will play smart and take their car to the track..and for those who dont care will keep hooning with what ever car they got....

Good comment at the bottom of the article:

"They should do the same for unlicensed cars or drivers."

These unlicensed drivers are not covered by any insurance if something was to happen. The police are getting too emotional about the whole thing, they need someone with a level head.

they cant get a level head..thats why they trying stuff that will never work to make the roads safer....i got this defensive drivers thing from work....went to it and i learnt so much about safe driving that i wish i learnt it before i got my P's...not while driving on my P's...that kind of thing should be cheaper and compulsary for kids on their L's so when they on the roads alone, they will think twice before doing anything stupid...THAT SORT of actions should be taken to make the roads safer NOT by crushing cars....Well thats what i think...

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
