Oil pressure is supposed to go up when revs increase. That's what engines do.

If it doesn't have excessive blowby then buy a new dipstick. If it pops that out, then you either have an incorrectly plumbed catch can, a blockage in the factory breather system or cam cover or you do have excessive blowby and just don't know it

are you sure going to 8kgcm2 on a rb25 is normal?

i dont think ive ever seen 8gkcm2 oil pressure

does the idiot light come on too?

nope no idiot light

when hot it sits just under the frist line when driving gose up past 4 and some times gets up to 8

check your oil level and look for oil leaks

something is missing, it should never hit 8gkcm2

8kg-cm2 is only 113psi.

If you are revving the engine when it's cold......this is normal.

Also, if he had an oil leak from somewhere, oil pressure is likely to drop.....not go up

no i mean, less oil in the engine = higher pressure

ie i wouldnt expect a normal rb25 to hit 8gkcm2 under normal warm conditions

stone cold it might get near or just on, but when warm it shouldnt

yeah but he said his engine was cold

an old r33 gtst of mine went up to about 7kg on a cold start and if i revved it to around 4000rpm within the first few minutes of driving it would also hit 8kg. Nothing wrong with that. My GTR gets about 7 wen cold but doesnt really hit 8 i dont think, ive never really revved it passed 4k when cold. It then stabilises down to 4 in most gears while driving by the time i get to my destination and idles on 2.5-3

in regard to blowing out the dip stick, the info on how to find and/or fix the problem is in post 4 of this thread.

    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
