Thanks Disco! Yeah all of that is definitely what I would like to happen, as I completely agree that a separate dump/front is a lot better - only problem is finding one. the only separate dump I could find on JJR (which is as far as I've been able to search so far) is a HPI one for $500 ish...

I won't make any decisions until I've spoke to my tuner and had his advice on what to buy and where from given to me, as the main reason I want something ASAP is so I don't screw him around any more.

I went for the 1 peice SS split dump from AM Performance here in Adelaide. Beautiful, high quality construction and it does not foul waste gate flap and cause boost spiking. I bought his hi flow 3" cat too at around $600 for both from memory.

Do a search on the forums, I don't think Andrew has one unhappy customer. Andrew: 0401865373

A used HKS one would be an excellent option, I saw a few on yahoo japan and local egay lately.

While I do agree with disco to the 2 piece affair, I did just removed my stock turbo and 1 piece dump from my own car. I actually was able to remove the dump quite easily with minimal stress. I simply unbolted it from the cat then unbolted it from the turbo and slid it out. There was no magic to it, it was just a well constructed item that had plenty of access clearance for the dump flange bolts.

And now for a shameless plug: the item is now for sale :touch: I am looking to swap it for a half piece like what came off your car Trozzle. PM me if you want to do a straight swap or even cash your way (depending on quality of your item).

Cheers,

My dump is stock, so I don't think you want it :touch: 2.5" mild steel, seen 17 years of (ab)use

How much would you want for yours? I'd need to get it posted down to Canberra though, so not sure if you're keen to stuff around with that. Also what size is yours and what power you making with it?

I just spoke to the tuner though, he said they'd be fine to source an appropriate part for me if needed. More or less my only concern here is that I don't stuff them around and waste their time. As long as they're happy with what's going on, then I'm happy.

Mine is an 80mm one piece front and dump.

And id be wanting your front pipe, not ur dump pipe lol. The bit that goes from the stock dump to the cat. PM me what size the inlet and outlet is, and I can more than likely post the item to you if we agree to do the deal.

Im wanting a pipe that is 70-80mm at both flanges, no less than 70mm. As stated, PM me.

ah ok. Well if you can hold out a little bit (by all means keep looking for something anyway, don't wait for me) until wednesday when the car will be looked at etc at the workshop, I can tell you if that will work. I will admit, I'm fairly ignorant as to what is ACTUALLY on there, and whether or not the cat is flanged or slip/weld on to the front pipe. Especially considering I thought it had an AM dump, and it's now stock, I'm not making any more assumptions lol.

Otherwise, if it will work with the workshop, and what I currently have in the way of a front pipe is what you're after (3.5", and flanged at the cat - 3.5" flange) I'm keen to do a swap with you.

lol no problem. 3" is actually 75mm and I only need that the flanges are no less than 70mm. My pipe is off the car and I wont be needing it back on any time soon, I dont drive it. No rush.

Ill go down to the post office and ask them about postage, PM me your details for an accurate quote.

This.

Andrew's level of workmanship is mindblowing... he will custom make anything that you request and it will last the life of the car unlike anything in mild steel. AM performance backs all his products and if they ever fail due to workmanship defects he will repair no worries.

Heres a pic of a GTiR kit he makes and sells worldwide. fits in all factory location and clears everything.

Tried calling him but no answer.

Any idea how much I'd probably be looking at for a 3.5" bellmouth dump from him? I'll wait until workshop gives me exact measurements for the flange etc before I go buying anything though.

For the power levels you're seeking I dont think you need a 3.5' bellmouth... Simply get a JJR 3" stainless dump/fornt pipe and bolt the f**ker in place! Worked a treat on my r33 gtst and I was at 235rwkw on 14psi with a lesser turbo than yours without any restriction.

if he doesnt answer the phone he's most likely working.. he's a one man operation atm. leave a sms with him or email on [email protected]

Any exhaust place should be able to make you a 3 inch bellmouth using the flange of your standard dump pipe. That's what they did with mine and it came up a treat, there's nothing that special to dump pipes, in the end it's just a hollow piece of metal (above workmanship does look nice though)! 3" is plenty for what you are after, why give up the backpressure for unnecessary size?

backpressure is never a good thing, the bigger the better when it comes to turbo exhausts, always! Obviously to a point though, a 5" dump isn't going to be of benefit.

Yeah it all makes sense, I just don't want to shoot myself in the foot all because I'm rushing it a little. Thanks for all the advice though, at this stage the JJR one does look to be the most appropriate, as it's cheap, large enough for what I'm after, and bolts right up. Still leaving final advice to tuner of course tho

As always, thanks again guys

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
