I suggest going with 3" wide straps as opposed to 2".

Also go with a five/six point to stop submarining under in a big crunch.

Pay particular attention to the buckle mechanism and get on that suits you. I'm astounded with how bad some are for this day and age, in particular the terribly bulky "Cam-over" type ones, just appalling for 2010 imo.

Personally, I use RPM in find them excellent. They have a nice compact bucket, push in like a normal seatbelt, turn to release. They also have nice shoulder strap adjusters that just seem easier to use than most, they don't jam like a lot I've used.

Agreed on the adjusters on the RPM units Ben, very easy to use.

One thing I dislike about my OMP's is the side buckle adjusters. They're quite difficult to use and in a poor position, my old Willans units was much more user friendly. Also very much agreed on the crotch strap, they hold you in much better than the 4 point units, just be sure to get one that fits nicely around the crown jewels

I'm a big fan of the willans. they work well and easy to use. 3inch 4 point with the rotary buckle is about $350, add about $80 for the 5/6 point nut buster strap. yeah it's expensive but cams has extended their life now I think from 5 to 10 years so it works out to be about $40 a year. not a bad price for safety.

These are what I got for my car. I bought some other stuff too, so they did a good deal on the package.

I had some brand new Monza 6 point 3" harnesses in the car but just didnt trust them - they were only $200 a set. Not that I could fault them, I just didn't want to trust my life with cheap taiwanese belts and the rotary buckle looked like it would be easy to accidentally undo if you got something caught on it (intercom lead, shirt cuff, etc.).

im getting a willans 3in 4point soon

I'd advise getting the crotch strap too, much better.

Ben, I want those cobra seats. What did you pay for them mate? They're at revolution racegear here in vic for 1050.

Awesome seats, though my shoulders only fit into the XL versions, and the XL versions don't fit off the shelf rails.

Yup, 10 years now so it just got a whole lot cheaper.

".... for that fantastic V shape we're all looking for in summer"

You know real race cars don't have such things as girly sliding rails..... bolt the fuggers in!

I hope the crotch strap doesnt affect my willingness to brake lol

Looks like a 5-6 point with 3" straps and decent buckle. I will check out RPM too.

Thanks for your help guys. Any reason why Revolution racegear has the rpm harnesses for 150? seems too cheap

crutch strap hold u in better under braking?

It helps locate the waist strap and keep it where it's supposed to be, so helps everywhere.

RPM is a Revolution Racegear brand, so they're usually well priced. $150 is super cheap though.

All the mentionaed harnesses are good, but are only as good as the fitment.

Have the lap belts done up first and as tight as you can, so you can just get them clipped up.

Then clip in the shoulder straps and pull them down tight, wiggle a bit, then pull again and repeat to take any slack out. It may feel uncomfortable but you'll soon "bed in" to it once you move off.

Now check that the buckle is in the correct position, it should not be up around your belly, it should be in your lap.

Far too often I've seen very badly adjusted harnesses where the buckle is in the guy's stomach, especially 4 point harnesses.

I know most of you know this, but it's important and I thought it worth mentioning :starwars:

The one thing I will add if going for a 5 or 6 pointer is to make sure the buckle is on the waiste strap.

I had a harness with it on the crotch strap which means you ALWAYS had to run it as a 5/6 pointer. Sometimes its nice if you are driving on the roads or whatever to just run as a basic 4 pointer as the crotch strap isn't the most comfortable of things.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
