Ive always wanted a VSpec R34 and looking back last year it was just way too unaffordable at prices between 55-60k for a reletively low km one in good condition.

I just jumped on carsales just to see how the markets going as im in a more financially stable situation to purchase one now and i was just dumbstruck by what i saw. Its easier to expalin with this link:

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=4&R=9273082&keywords=&trecs=8&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pC

ar_Model_String|0&__sid=122E57874964&__Nne=15&__Qpb=true&seot=1&__N=1216 1247 1252 1282 4294963846 4294963593 4294932943 898&silo=1011://http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars...8&silo=1011

Is this really how downhill the GTR market has gone in just 1 year? Oddly enough it wasnt the only one, i saw 2-3 which where in a similar price bracket as well.

Any input guys?

i am importing as i want a Black / Blue GTR V-Spec, going through J-SPEC imports at the moment

there are some SILVER V-SPEC (inspected one in SYD) and the seller is willing to go down as much as 37K!!!, but Silver one just dont look as mean as Black, Blue (Yes i know Z-TUNE silver is mean !!!) they look too similer to GTT in my PERSONAL opinion

Whites one are cheap too and sellers willing to reduced considerably than advertised "if your serious"

White V-Spec can be had for around "41- 44" bloody good one with MOds

I decided to import as i could not find Black / Blue V-Spec for my budget that is good "there is WA plated one in QLD, which is SH*T" and they still hold there value reasonable well in Australia and even in Jap Land

No point buying Non V-Spec stock one as you need to spend a bit to

1. Lower it (stock one ride way to high)

2. Put in the Front Lip and back diffuser (gives GTR LOOK) + nice wheels

3. Power FC, Cams, etc.. etc (stock one are not very fast IMO, just drive and you will see what i mean)

And you will get caught out when it comes to selling as it not a V-SPEC

V-Spec II and NUr, just way too over my budget so never considered them

Keep in mind WHITE R34 GTR's, when done well actually looks bloody nice "some nice one in SAU WA section i think" with Carbon Side skirts and Pod and Tommy diffuser, which are not too expensive for a good COPY version - Carbon on Fiber glass

also need money for Full flued flush and 100K service "regardless of actually KM on the Dash" as most have Nismo 320 dash fitted and you have no clue how much actual KM

My 2C

I'm looking at R34 GTRs too. Can someone explain why a V-Spec is so much better than a non V-Spec?

1. Aren't you going to replace the stock (V-Spec or Non) suspension anyway? So it shouldn't matter if it's non V-Spec?

2. Ok, if you like diffusers...

3. V-Spec doesn't come with any of these anyway.

I thought V-Spec differences were on very minor?

Can someone explain please? Thanks!

Wouldn't this one happen to have carbon fibre bonnet and TE37s by any chance?

Many argue that you can get a better performing base GTR by saving the 5k but each to their own.. Personally, i think the diffuser is what MAKES the GTR and seperates it from your normal GT's, thats just me though, and from what ive seen the things cost an arm and a leg if you where to buy it privately.

Aside from that the differences that i know off is a tighter suspension and a more refined ATESSA system and an active LSD in the rear

Nope not that one

i nearly inspected that too, but got to the - too good to be true catagory

also the seller used too much "YES BRO and NO BRO" when asking about options and stuff on the car

Buying my dream Car and always wanted a R34 GTR and V-Spec just got that exclusivity and again personal preference IMO

and we do have to sell it one day

Stock suspension you need to replace as they are WAY higher and the Car have a odd stance

41K for landed and complained if you can wait and are ok with High KM onw

42-44K Landed and Complanced for Nice mid KM one.. again you need to WAIT, this is my weekend TOY, SO time i have got

both with Exhaust and some wheels "they do come and i missed a nice one last week.. JUST"

i am only talking about Blue / Black R34 V-Spec with Cat back exhaust and some i have seen with Nice wheels, Body kit and so on

I found these V-Spec GTRs on carsales that don't seem to have diffusers:

I can PM about the first one, dont like to comment on stuff open forum

second one is SAU sales section and is a really nice car

he has mentioned that this is NOT a V-Spec and it standard GTR

it got some NISMO Wheels, which are not cheap and if you ask him nicely you will see the Actual Price is very tempting :P

I just don't like Silver for R34 GTR, other than that very nice CAR indeed

The difference is so minor it is not worth the extra, whatever dollars the price tag says.

Or you'd rather save up for the aftermarket mods and put it to the base model.

R34 GTR V-Spec = Standard R34 GTR but came with ATTESA E-TS Pro system and an Active LSD at the rear.

Had harder suspension and lower ride height.

A plastic front air diffuser (covering the underside of the engine) and also a rear carbon fiber air diffuser, designed to keep air flowing smoothly under the car.

The Multifunction Display (MFD) had two extra features to the display: Intake and Exhaust Temperatures.

Ceramic twin turbo's.

R34 GTR V-Spec II = As above + an increase of hardness to the suspension and larger disk brakes on the rear.

OEM carbon fiber bonnet with an NACA Air Duct to vent air to the turbo side of the engine.

Iridium center console and aluminium pedals. (Just for looks)

Seat interior colour were black rather then gray, which was used on previous R34 GT-R models. (Just for looks)

Indicator lenses were replaced with white / clear instead of amber / orange. (Just for looks)

Ceramic twin turbo's.

And you get a "V-Spec" / "V-Spec II" Badge / sticker on the rear bar.

You would change the stock suspension over to a set of fully adjustable ones as it will better the handling over any stock suspension.

The first R34 GTR probably took it off to fit the massive muffler canon.

Probably a shit job of fitting the massive muffler canon, cause I have seen massive muffler canon fitted with the diffuser still on the car.

The second R34 GTR is not a V-Spec (It is listed in the brief comments saying it's 'non V-Spec') and there is not badge / sticker.

They are terrible photos in those ads :P so you can barely see the rear.

So it is just a base model = No diffusers.

You actually wrote the Sticky on Spec differences in SAU - (OO)SKYLINE(OO) , remember reading this

my justification is R34 GTR is a "Toy" and a bit of a statement than a CAR, but Yes, i also agree that if you make your decisions based on sound argument R34 Stock with Mods win all the time.

but i left the sound arguments side of the brain "turned off" when i decided not to buy a Mitsu Evo 8 MR or Nice R33 GTR N1 (was one for sale here some time back) LOT Less money and lot newer in the case for Evo 8 MR (not talking about locally delivered Evo 8 mind you)

each to there own i suppose

if anyone is interested, i made Spread sheet of how much it will cost to make R34 GTR a V-spec, with one worksheet "quality Jap Parts of Yahoo Jap" and another one with fiberglass on Carbon Parts " bodykit, suspention and MFD only not LSD" + Sticker from Just Jap of cause !! , so yes, i really needed a V-SPEC

Guess i got way too much time on my hands :P

True, each to their own ;)

Got a copy of the Spread sheet?

(Not advertised "publically" due to my inability to deal with pimple faced farkin jerks and/or cocks who are prepared to pay cash "if I can get the finance"..... )

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
