Hi Guys,

I am sorry to be so abrupt but we are trying to get the word up and get a nice group going, so here it goes.

post-77060-1285068394_thumb.jpg

I am an active member of NGG Forums, an Australian gaming comunity for PC, PS3, Xbox and Wii, and we play from ModNation racers to COD and all the popular games. I would not post here if it was not relevant, and here it goes.

If you are not aware, this little game will be coming out on November 4th.

We are starting a racing league and club, we understand that people have lives and most of us are married and have kids, so we try to fit the schedules so everyone can take part. You can take part in casual races/events, practice sessions and track days, also will have driving school days and we are trying to make the game accessible to everyone.

We are a very friendly community and considering that everyone here loves cars, I am assuming a couple will be getting this game, and trust me when I say playing with real people is 10 times better than AI.

We also have our own Stig, so you can ask questions and see how you fare against the god of racing in the Top Gear Test track leader board.

Come join us and join the fun.

NEXT GEN GAMERS

Once we have the league running, we will host an events and leagues so the Australian forums can race each other for world domination. We will even try to organize international events.

I will invite members from this and other car forums so we can race each other in an environment where trading paint wont cost you anything, represent your community and race your loved car.

We will allow full tuning so you can tweak it as much as you want up to a specified PP point.

See you in the Track

We will be posting Race days and sign ups soon, in the mean time, join us for some warm up on GT5 Prologue or just to get some info if you need so. We are also open to suggestions for events.

MrPing

ADMIN:I am not a spambot, or a Russian person living in Siberia joining forums and posting links, I posted here since I found it relevant, we are just trying to get people together for the love of cars, we don't sell anything.

and VERSE eah other. like pokemon. except this won't suck.

All we are trying to do is have some fun and get people together.

This is a car forum is it?, people that love cars will get this game, wouldn't they? (specially since there is like 50 different Skylines in it, even more relevant here) All we are doing is managing races for you.

If you want to have your own "Gay little Gran Turismo Club" be my guest, and then come over and race us, we will be doing weekly races.

All the other places where I posted this info (WRX, EVO, v8 forums and others), people have been wrapped about the idea, this is the only place where I got such a bitter response.

We are just offering an invitation since we know that some of your members will be getting this and we are providing a fun enviroment to race people from all over the world.

you would've been better off looking about 3 posts down the page to the rather large GT5 thread we have going and posting in there.

Yes, I did see it, and on all 22 pages all there is is back and forth within XBOX and PS3 fanboys bashing each other and some news here an there and no mention of an actual league or racing toghether.

My reasoning behind posting here was that people would see it and go "Oh, cool", if I post it in that thread it would be lost in 22 pages of banter.

Our forum is all about Games, and we have a whole section just for GT5, again, all we are trying to do is get people racing toghether.

Sounds like a good idea MrPing.

Don't let MrEps get you down - he is just frustrated because he drives a toyota too often and is taking it out on you.

Makes sense then....

Typevu: the races and registration will be posted in our forum, in the GT5 section, if you are registered for the League you will get notified of upcoming events and will be provided the link to register to the Race.

3 days before the race day, we will open a practice server for you to meet other racers and get used to the track, learn some tips from other races, tune your car and plan your race.

On race day, the server will be open 1 hour before the race, so you can go in and warm up or join at your leisure, 30 min before the race practice starts (qualifying on races over 15 laps) and rules go on. 5 min before the race track is closed and you should go to the toilet and get your beer. Race starts and away you go.

Race rules/regulations may vary for each race and they will be posted in our forum.

That is how the league will run, and we will have a parallel endurance series going if you can commit more time.

All races are casual (except for the endurance series) and you can participate on as many as you wish, but remember, we have limited spots on each race so register quick for the race you want to join.

sounds cool but sounds rather demanding. i like the idea but i'm too lazy to go to all that trouble.

We do all the work, that is the beauty of it, once you're in our list, you will get notified about upcoming events, if you want to race on that one, then you register, if you don't then you don't have to, we do all the hard work for you. On the practice day we will send you an invite through PSN to the private server and you can join or not, that is your choice.

The only one that we ask people to commit would be the race day once you register for it, since there is limited spots and it would not be fair to take someone's spot just to not show up. (we are working on keeping 2-3 people on standby if we have extra people) Again, once the server opens for the race you will receive an invite and you can join up to 5 min before the race, after that you loose your spot and get a DNS.

This is still in setup mode and open to suggestions, and remember, once you know people that race with you you have more people to do a on the spot spur of the moment thing since you'll have a long list of people that like to race.

Also, DID I MENTION YOU CAN CHALLENGE PEOPLE ON 1 ON 1 RACES? and our ladder will keep track of wins and loss and give you a rank. (thought I should add that) No Pink slips required.

MrPing im going to smash you.

i wasn't bitter but i am now.. well.. not bitter. .. think of me as the tonic water of this thread. yeah it's bitter. but in some instances it makes sense..

...shut up!

no

i wasn't being bitter or non responsive

what i was saying was - you guys are "gamers"... we are "car nerds"

what i was saying was - if we have a league... you gamers... verse us car nerds... see who comes out on top!!!

if you're willing to manage it all that sounds great.. i'd definitely be in... but i PERSONALLY would love it if we could have "teams" within the league

IE:

SAUfags. verses the WRXfags

or say

the silviafags... versus the gamerfags..

Actually, I took your comment seriously, and added a section on the league registration "what car forum you come from" and that way when the results are posted you know if the EVO dudes are faster than the NISSAN guys, or the WRX guys, and we will be hosting team events, so you can work as a group and play to everyone's strengths.

I told you, we are open for suggestions.

BTW all this events have not been posted yet, it will soon, we are setting it all up.

Edited by MrPing

well then that's excellent!!!

what i'd like to know is - who's better... a carnerd or a gamernerd!!!!

one thing about SAU - don't EVER take anything seriously.. EVER.. read the 22's on an R33 page from cover to cover - you'll see.

i (personally) think that would be a great ... umm.. league?? is that what you'd call it??

like say for instance, i wanna organise a series of sprint races.. SAU guys (without marc cos he's shit) versus hardcore gamers..

OPEN CLASS.

or a tsukuba time attack??

yeah but see then i have to try and be not busy during the time that the races are on, etc. i'm lazy and generally don't plan ahead (because even if i do things usually come up and things never go to plan, so i just take it as it comes).

This will be a good idea since you don't have to attend every race but more of an optional thing, and when you do, it will be people who want to race properly :O

EXACTLLY!!!!

The only reason for me asking for registration for the forums is due to our league platform being attached to it, and through it we will send the messages about upcoming events and stuff (via PM). You can choose to never participate of the forums if you wish.

By registering for a race you are provided the rules, and since it is private servers, bumper cars and douchebags that ruin the experience for everyone else will be kicked and banned if needed hopefully we don't have to do it often.

    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
