update: ive got the im240 test on next wednesday at botany.

my plan is to fill up half tank of 98 and half of e85 then tune it over the weekend. the reason im doing that is i dont want to have to do any heavy tuning before the test as its a pain in the ass to tune timing on the street.

im going to disconnect my actuator too so i dont hit boost during the test. that should get me a pass as they only want to see that your CO is under 8g... THC, NOX and CO2 dont matter.

Disconnect the actuator? So it won't open up, or remove the actuator arm and wire the flap open?

Hey man. I'm the guy who's been talking to you and waiting for the money to buy the car. If this passes, will I have any trouble in the future if I don't change any gear?

hey mate, i sent you a PM with some notes.

UPDATE: car is now running on e70/85. Caltex advertise it as having between 70-85% ethanol.

a few things ive noticed is it smells a bit like vinegar/vegetable oil. i want to eat it.

other than that i'll be tuning cruise and light to moderate boost before i take it in tomorrow to see if it passes. i havent advanced timing at all, i will do this when im a bit more confident and have done enough research to be able to do it on the street without passing the speed limits!

it also feels like it picks up a bit better, feels smooth. unfortunately it wont be a full-time thing. its purely for EPA purposes.

thanks dude. got it. My buyer is just waiting for his money so I can have my money. Sorry to keep you waiting.

ok i just did the emissions test. looks like the only issue is NOx. the limit is 1.93 and i got a 2.56... i think ill richen up the tune a LITTLE bit as my CO is within limits of around 0.7 then replace the cat and try again.

what a relief.

little update. NOx can be tuned out by reducing combustion temps. retarding timing helps this. a new cat wont necessarily help (i didnt replace it).

ive richened up the map a little and im going to retard timing by 5 degrees.

im going in tomorrow so i'll let you guys know if i pass.
