I'm keen on the sound of a pod too... but i agree that it's pointless without a decent airbox and CAI (like mine is now - just a pod attracting hot air)...

So yeah, i'd say if you wanna go all the way (pod + box + CAI) like i will eventually... pod's the go!

Otherwise i'd agree with a lot of other and just whack a K&N pannel filter in your std. box, then maybee later look at other ways of feeding air into it...

(just my 2c)

I had trust twin pods in cold air box and went back to standard air box with K&N element. I made a cold air feed from flexible duct from my front bar to the cutout in the front skirt and the standard box also has the cold air feed on top. Makes the same power and keeps the TOG off my back.

Get one of them CAI boxes from the group buy going on (look the goods), and if you get a pod whack it in. That would probably cost you $300 or so, and you get to keep the noise.

otherwise just get a good panel filter... K&N, etc.

As people have said the standard airbox with a cold feed is most probably better than a pod sucking in hot air. If you are going for a pod though, check out:

I'd be going a K&N or Apexi myself. I've got an Apexi on my car at the moment, but it could do with replacing as it's had a fair life by the looks of it :P

today i picked up a new K & N POD from autobarn - i think it was 169 but got 20% off. Now I just need to add a CAI....The sound is great and they seem to filtrate fairly well

Without trying to pick a fight at all; how would you know how well it's filtering?

****, server just ****ed up and lost my post - i am too laser to type it all again - basically the filtration is very evident as i live in semi-rural so lots of dust and shit - seems to filter just as well if not better than stnd - also i have read a few online test between the brands where K & N came out second overall

Yeah i have an apexi duel funnel and that works a treat but one problem is that what happens when it looks dirty how do you clean them or do you just tap the crap out gently?

good question, they claim they're maintenence free :)

I've washed mine in turps, didn't really clean that much crap out. I might try washing it in water next time. Either that or just buy a new one when it looks like mine :)

Fair enough then :)

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
