Nice, must admit I was a bit jealous once it started going together...

Did we get the fan direction right?

Sure did. 'Cause I can't hear it kick in, not like the factory one. I was lucky to see it just stop spinning yesterday morning before going to work.

I just need to organise that waterproof connection you showed me.

That's excellent mate, smarter than we look eh? Maybe one weekend soon, you can just drop in & we'll do the plug. Only need to pull the grille back out to get at it, less than half an hours work, and you'll be on your way.

The sway bar group buy isnt even over yet and I'm looking at more bits...

Just wondering if anyone is interested in a new group buy for these? Seems like 10 is the magic number.

I'm keen to help out to get this sorted.

HDI intercoolers are about $770 + $50 shipping on ebay, so any saving would be worthwhile.

Are HDI the only people doing kits? Not worth talking to PWR or similar?

The other kit is the Blitz cooler kit from Just Jap at about $900.....the HDI ones are better!.....not to mention the price being better. PWR will custom make one for you but unless your planning on running 500AWKW's it's not really worth it as we have proved how well the HDI one flow's.

What power are people using these things to ?

I'm about 500hp at the crank on BP98 atm.......Aaron on his next run will be about 550-570hp at the crank on E85.....this is with the VQ25.....both of us run the HDI FMIC....GT2!......neither of us have had flow problems with it....should be good for at least 600hp.

i second that!

the other reason why its much better is because theres a minimal pressure loss which means your turbo wont work as hard to fill up the huge core, as it would a blitz

I enquired with PWR, but the cost was too high although their coolers are pretty good.

Ryan, if you want an HDi cooler, I can organise it for you at the GB price as I have for others since the GB.

PM me know if/when you want to go ahead :)

GT2 = yes

HDi clamps = If you are referring to these http://hybrid-power.com/HDI%20CLAMP/HDI%20CLAMP.html, yes there is one in the kit for joining the piping behind the washer bottle. The rest are used on the silicon joiners and are basically these http://www.norma.net.au/norma-gbs.html

I'll check shipping to NZ, PM me your address so I can get an accurate quote.

Cam not trying to knock those HDI silicone joiner clamps.. but i found the reason why mine kept blowing off is because the band is too large area wise.... also the HDI ones cant be tightened as much or the bolt tightening them snaps. and obviously not tightening enough is not good.. the thread also strips..

reccomend using generic SS ones with a thinner band.. havnt had problems since thumbsup.gif

EDIT: that and 20 psi

No stress mate, just giving them the heads up as to which clamps are in the kit.

As an aside, not one of my clamps have come off nor loose.

I did strip one though but only because it couldn't really fit around the joiner to grab enough thread  .

I only found that the one that connects to the BOV intake pipe was juuuuust big enough, but have had no issues with any clamps coming off... then again, I haven't heard of anyone else having a prob with them either

lol Craigs did once..

but im the only one using them running 20+ psi lol

i had a problem with the drivers side part of the cooler clamp..

BUT.. none the less, a Great product! blowing a cooler hose turns the car off so it doesnt damage anything anyway

Awesome news, cheers.

Search showed up the Blitz kit, but seemed like it was a pain to fit and had no benefit over the HDI. PWR was just someone I was curious about. Figured the cost would be high but didnt know if they were good enough to make it worthwhile.

Will go the HDI shortly! Thanks!

Looks like the thermo fans are still available... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/12-INCH-LOW-PROFILE-HIGH-PERFORMANCE-THERMO-FAN-/120697595024?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c1a232490#ht_1556wt_689

They're still available with the wiring kit, but looking at this thread seems like the wiring kit isn't required.

If I have just given everyone the wrong link please let me know...

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.
    • Punch your VIN (nm35-xxxxxx) into Amayama.com You can see everything there quite easily.
    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
