I got a few questions for all you R32 GTR experts,

1. I know that in 1994 the GTR's had a R33 spec engine in them so i am just wondering in which month did they change to the R33 spec engine.

2. Ceramic Turbos, i read somewhere on my travels around the internet that they changed the ceramic to steel ball bearings during 1992.

3. The bottom lip on the front bumper bar, did the bottom lip come black or did some come from factory colour coated?

4. V-spec 1, they were released in February 1993 when was the last one produced? Did they finish when the V-spec11 was released?

That's all I can think of for now. Any information you can give me will be awesome.

Thanks,

Chris

  • 4 weeks later...

as far as i know, the bottom lip came black from the factory. all the ones i've seen in body colour have been painted after.

the side indicators, i got a little confused when i first saw pictures of these too. here in nz no r32s have these, yet most australian r32s i've seen do have them. so i'm assuming its ozzi compliance regulations that put them there.

too late at night for me to dig deep enough in my brain to answer everything else lol

I got a few questions for all you R32 GTR experts,

1. I know that in 1994 the GTR's had a R33 spec engine in them so i am just wondering in which month did they change to the R33 spec engine.

Where did you find that info?

2. Ceramic Turbos, i read somewhere on my travels around the internet that they changed the ceramic to steel ball bearings during 1992.

22nd February 1990 The Nismo Edition was released with Nismo Turbos, which I believe are steel internals.

19th July 1991 The R32 GTR N1 was released with N1 Turbos (steel internals).

Base models / V-Spec / V-Spec II's all had ceramic turbos.

3. The bottom lip on the front bumper bar, did the bottom lip come black or did some come from factory colour coated?

I believe they call came non painted from factory, owners just painted them after purchase.

4. V-spec 1, they were released in February 1993 when was the last one produced? Did they finish when the V-spec11 was released?

V-Spec, released on 3rd February 1993.

V-Spec II, released on 14th February 1994.

V-Spec would have finished on the day release of V-Spec II... Logically...

Got another, indicators in the guards above the GT badge, did they come standard after a certain year or do they get fitted during compliance or is there is some other reason cause some seem to have them and other don't.

With the grey imports, my R32 was under the SEVS Law at the time.

The year was 2005, my R32 is a 1990 model.

Any model of R32 import which was 15 years or older (like mine) did not require the side indicators but needed a rear parcel brake light + a few other items.

From 1991 onwards you needed side indicators but no rear parcel brake light.

I believe the SEVS Law is outdated now (non existent).

Whatever the new ADR Laws are now is whatever is required... No matter what year car it is... I think...

    • I'll bite. I no longer own any euro's, but I thought I'd share two of my favorites I owned. My 500hp B5 S4 and my 800HP E55 AMG. Yes I did attempt to drive the E55 in Canadian winters, that lasted all of a month as it was a death trap.
    • To be fair this is the wife’s car. However, I have been accused of owning more cars than I have pairs of undies. Luckily I change my undies more frequently than the cars.
    • Cheers Lads Looking at changing up a few things maybe go 2.8lt, bigger injectors with more a modern Turbo. Possibly transbrake and convert to E85 with Haltech ECU. Any thoughts on those Mods changes or better ideas? Want to try keep the car Street/Strip While also being weekend drivable still.
