Andrew.Y
Hi Guys, I'm new to the GTR ownership and just don't really know what's the difference on the stock turbos between R33 GTR and R34 GTR. I have also heard the R34 twins got ball bearings. What are ball bearings and what are thrust bearings? Does it make any performance/durability difference? Much appreciated! islade
I'd imagine ball bearing units would spool up faster. Weather they made the same power or more/less would depend on other factors, which i'm sure someone much more knowledgeable will fill us in soon Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/345177-stock-turbo-r33-gtr-vs-r34-gtr-whats-the-difference/#findComment-5561534 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
For all intents and purposes - the stock turbos are basically the same. They are both shit, both ceramic, and if they blow with potentially take the motor with them (usually rear that dies) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/345177-stock-turbo-r33-gtr-vs-r34-gtr-whats-the-difference/#findComment-5561615 Share on other sites
paulr33
BCNR33 is 0.42a/r front compressor and BNR34 is 0.53a/r front compressor Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/345177-stock-turbo-r33-gtr-vs-r34-gtr-whats-the-difference/#findComment-5561646 Share on other sites

R31Nismoid
N1's are steel wheeled, NUR might be as well. If they aren't, then no. Andrew.Y
I have just bought a set of Garrett -7s. Now what? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/345177-stock-turbo-r33-gtr-vs-r34-gtr-whats-the-difference/#findComment-5561881 Share on other sites
Cowboy1600
I have just bought a set of Garrett -7s. Now what? Pop them in a box and mail them to me. Or you could take your car to mechanic and ask him nicely if he'll please put them on for you. A fee may or may not be involved. DAN00H
I have just bought a set of Garrett -7s. Now what? if you like tinkering with cars, set aside half a day, grab the PDF manual and your new copper washers/ gaskets and tools - then enjoy. (has been documented a number of times and there are things to know about...) otherwise take it to one of the recommended workshops where they will fit (and probably recommend other things as well), then enjoy 1bar without worries. from there is it time to spend on other mods/ equipment great choice on the R34 mate Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/345177-stock-turbo-r33-gtr-vs-r34-gtr-whats-the-difference/#findComment-5561923 Share on other sites

I really think I'm not the man for the job. The car is now at a workshop. Also what kinda of boost to run on a stock internal with -7? 1? 1.2? 1.5? Any commends really appreciated. GTRsean
How long is a piece of string! Depends on engine condition, supporting mods etc. I'm running 17-18psi nearly maxing out stock fuel system and Airflow meters. 300kw at the rears is what most people get give or take. DAN00H
as Sean said, however I've seen 22psi on a cold night - if you are running stock ECU etc then stay safe and stick around 18psi Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/345177-stock-turbo-r33-gtr-vs-r34-gtr-whats-the-difference/#findComment-5562344 Share on other sites

Can the stock turbos be re-utilized somehow?
