I dunno about 30 mins.

Maybe if your a frigging machine and have ALL the tools pre-setup

I'd prefer to take my time and do it properly.

I reckon an hour is fair. With a beer in the middle lol!

I can show someone if they BYO tools, i aint got many ATM.

Oh, and you supply plugs too :aroused:

I agree 1 hour for a half decent job, maybe the 32 / 33's are a bit quicker? 34 has strut bar and engine shroud in the way as well as everything else...Bov, Plenum [which may involve ic piping removal], rocker cover 8-10 allen key bolts from memory...plus ALL of the individual coil packs...4 bolts each!

My first go took me approx 2 hours, with the 2nd attempt maybe an hour - except I was cleaning everything while I was doing the plugs...if you only change the plugs then probably an hour on a good day - try it in 40 degree heat /wipes brow :)

i can do my 32 in half an hour... there aint much difference bw that and a 33...

u dont have to remove everything u simply undo one end and move it out the way.

MAX time 45mins... and my 32 also has a strut bar.... plenum doesnt move... piping undo it at the plenum end and undo ONE end of the hose on the BOV.... undo the 2 bolts that bolt that bit of pipe to the engine and lift it up.

undo the screws on the rocker cover and then undo the bolts on the ignition packs and lift em out... undo the sparks and rreplace... bolt everything back in and voila!

I done mine last night , at least an hour at a nice easy pace, you can do it quicker for sure. But i regapped them, cleaned the coil connectors etc. Also, it wise to take off the intercooler pipe too. I didnt do it first and i put the number 4 plug in angled. Luckily it hasnt done any damage.

if anyone can do it in 30mins, and do a proper job then i will give u half a slab.. has to be properly timed.

It usually takes me a bit over an hour... thats getting the tools out, undoing everything, removing plugs.. having a look at the old ones and numbering and dating them, then gap the new ones and put them. Do everything up... and presto...

Add another 5 or 10 mins if i put my tools away, but im too lazy after that to bother and normally do that a few days later :D

lol man im talking from the time i start taking things to bits.... gapping should be done before hand but i normally dont do it cause i dont trust myself to do it properly... i did it once but never did it again incase i stuffed them.

only tools u really need are:

10mm ratchet and ext bar - undoing the bolts that hold the piping to the block

8mm socket - losening the hose straps on the piping and those bolts that hold that grey box onto the rocker cover.

alan key - removing rocker cover

16mm spark plug socket with a 1/2inch drive ratchet and long ext bar - for removing the sparkies

12mm socket - for the bolts that hold the coil packs to the block...

pretty sure thats it.

    • Block bump. $400. As above cyl 6 needs bore or sleeve.
    • I would think making the argument that the travel is limited by a spring flexing against a spring perch as "the same method". Later on in the document they do state that the spring can't bind on full bump travel and cannot come loose in full rebound travel as well. (which is all very sensible). The laws are actually pretty sensible and reasonable. It's just that the people who enforce and check them don't actually read them or know them accurately. "Oh, coilovers? Instant fail mate. Don't even need to look at it." - Guy who will be instantly reported by me. There is probably merit to people who do get defected for height also get defected for the suspension in that state that allows it. I did never consider the people who are complaining about coilovers being picked on are also running around at 50mm off the floor.
    • I think given SAU's knowledge of E85 we can strongly conclude that 10% ethanol in almost any situation is entirely fine. Almost all of the myths against E85 were overblown, let alone E10.
    • From your link See bold text, is this referring to damper settings, if so that may a issue for "some" inspectors, I cannot see aftermarket coilovers having the evidence that "must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original" Maybe just remove the adjustment knows and hope for the best???? Meh 5.2 Suspension travel In all instances, modifications to a vehicle’s suspension must ensure the integrity of the system and not compromise the ride quality.     • They actually don't - They adhere to VSB14 rules just like Victoria. The rules are against CABIN adjustable height, and it quite clearly states that the height has to be within parameters. I asked the VASS engineer to confirm this when I got my car engineered and they refused to engineer the coilovers because they didn't meet the requirements for requiring engineering. (mine are height adjustable.) People "Not wanting to bother" with "Actually reading/knowing/adhering to the rules" should result in fines and immediately losing the ability to issue blue slips and/or RWC's in Vic.
