he is aiming for 380kw though, certainly not low, but not some 500kw monster that needs it to get the power.

Its easy to become indifferent to numbers but 380 wheel watts is a friggin lot of power.

Do A nicely balanced head to suit and it will make that power more efficiently with better boost and torque characteristics too.

380rwkw was just a figure I pulled from the sky, I use to drive it at 300kw so I was merely adding a reasonable factor on top.. Hell the more power I can screw out of her the better.. But in reality I want to make sure I do everything right. Keeping in mind I'm still retaining the purist RB25 standard capacity approach..

As for 5K worth of slicks, well I'm sure that could occur but far far later down the track as well its still in bits/undrivable at this point in time..

Now another question, I have heard that the bronze guides have a pretty quick wear rate?? If this being true is there any other guides in which I can use?? Keeping in mind I want to use the 1mm oversize valves..

I'll say this quietly in case Nismoid is listening.

Use the factory iron guides, they are more durable than the bronze jobbys.

Getting the engines breathing characteristics to suit the other mods is the key to unleashing the true potential of your build.

Every performance category be it, drags, marine, Tractor pulls, circuit,N/A Forced induction or whatever has had countless hours of time and money poured in to developing cylinder heads simply because that is where Real horsepower benefits and torque characteristics to suit the application can be found.

Mismatching parts, and not understanding the application is where things seem to come unstuck.

Best example I've seen many times over is using drag spec engine+head mods in ski boat engines. Different discipline, different requirements, need different parts and approaches to specs and modifications.

Have you considered swapping the motor or maybe head to a neo rb25det

Head has soild lifters, larger exhaust valves already

Not sure if the stock neo head will make your power goal, but with researching.

What supertech cam followers do I need to purchase if I choose to use the Tomei 270/10.25mm cams??

I've been told there are 29mm and 31mm base circle styles..

Hi,

Looking for some help with cams... I've just bolted up a GT3076 with internal gate to my RB25 series 1 and I have a pair of Tomei Poncams 256 degree 8.5mm lift I would like to drop in. I'm not looking to get any real power gains from them, but just to move the powerband round, for more response and and earlier spool up, would these cams be adequate for the job? The cams came with the option VCT retained, what is this about and is there any tutorials or DIY's on instalment of these cams?

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
