Yeah I looked up power chip and found that they don't have a rb25de chip I would say that the Nistune would be the best way to go though I can't find any forms, that have information on them. only thing I can find is a video of an r33 on a dyno with a Nistune with BIG power gains.

http://www.nistune.com/

tried their website :geek:

Yeah I looked it up Abit more and found that I could get the nistune done off envy inports in sydney for $1100 so that sounds great and that would give me 20 more kws at the wheels and get cams done for about $1200 but I think that's abait to much of a power gain for a p plater

I have been told many many times Nistune does not work on the RB25DE ECU (R34 GT)

nfi about R33 or 32..

You have to buy an ecu out of a z32 and modify it a bit, put the nistune in and then it will work with the rb25's.

Another option is to use an r32 ecu with the nistune, but then you lose the VCT.

Might as well buy a whole new ecu?

if I have to buy a another ecu then buy the Nistune. I don't have that much money. lol I am saying this because they can just upload the Nistune software on it right?

no you can't simply load the nistune software (or any software for that matter) onto any stock skyline ecu. they require a daughterboard installed into the ecu, but not all of the skyline ecus are compatiable. most places should be able to get you a z32 ecu, install the board and then tune if for around $1000 to $1200. z32 ecu's can be had for pretty cheap these days (under $200). to put this into perspective, most stand alone aftermarket ecus cost quite a bit more than that for just the ecu without any tuning done (and the lower end aftermarket ecus such as the pfc won't give you any real advantages of difference in performance over the nistune).

also for a NA i wouldn't expect a 20kw gain in power from a tune. i'd expect more like 10kw. 20kw is more what you'd gain from a tune on a turbo skyline.

that 20kw was probably a bit of a one off. you will find that the average power gain they see is probably less than that. also there are some tuners out there who will do a tune, then if the power gain isn't that much they then alter a few settings on the dyno to bump up the power figures (and it's not always the ones who are known to be dodgy, plenty of the 'reputable' ones have done it too). not saying that the place you are talking about would do that, just simply saying that expecting 20kw from a tune is a bit much for an NA unless you were putting in a set of cams too, or the stock ecu was throwing a fault code and they fixed that at the same time.

as for 20kw damaging the engine, that depends on the tune. a 20kw gain won't damage the motor simply from the extra power, however if they do a safe tune and it only makes 5 or 10kw more and they want to make it a bit better then they may start to add a bit more timing into it or lean it out a bit more and start to make it not so safe. this then reduces the margin of error that the engine has if something happens such as the fuel pump starts to die or an injector gets a bit dirty. this is part of the reason why power can be gained over a stock ecu. they are tuned to be extremely safe to give a large margin of error.

U seem to have a good idea on this. What do u think I should do I have an exhaust pod cai but it just doesnt put out enough for a skyline u know I just want enough power in case a xr6 or a sv6 comes next to me on a race track;). That's all I want 0 to 100 in 7seconds. :)

you will have to face the fact that a NA skyline simply isn't that fast. if you go up against a falcon or commodore with similar mods to you you will lose. i've said this many times on here, but i will say it again (so sorry to those who are sick of hearing it). i had a 3.5L v6 manual magna. with just a cat back exhaust it ran 14.8 at willowbank. it was just the base model executive. there are plenty of vrx versions in the 14.4 to 14.6 bracket with minimal mods (full exhaust).

I wont say anything :nyaanyaa:

    • What an awesome idea to fit the facelift Lamborghini Diablo headlights. They are a perfect fit!
    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
