Hey chaos, you gotta remember that slip and Gary probably have lives that dont revolve around SAU and they are giving up their spare time and doing a lot of running around and organising in their own time, so yeah it's taken them a while but are you going to pay them a full time wage so that they can quit their repesctive jobs and do the organising full time?

I am not trying to put you down or bag you in any way, these guys are probably doing the best that they can, so why not just be patient?

Well put Ska, it is VERY hard to find time these days and the efforts of Gary and Slip should be recognised by all.

In my early days I was very active with Pulsar Group, not a club, as in not incorporated merely a group which is different, but it is alot harder to get sponsors of a group.

We don't all go to school and finish at 3 or uni and have 12 contact hours, some of us work bloody long hours to enjoy our lines and the added stress of dealing and waiting on others is not good.

Slip and Gary I'll buy you a beer anytime, great work guys!!!

I Sincerly Applogise for my above post. I did not intend in anyway to Dis-respect Gary or Slip in anyway. I was simply putting forward my assumptions that i was under from the previous update thread. I do understand Gary and Slip both work fulltime and have worked hard over the past months to get this club up and running and i was in no way having a go at them for not working.

So once again i Applogise.

Ben

Chaos - We have actually done updates before this one, it went largely unnoticed.

Given your circumstances, I don't understand how this is such a big issue for you.

2 hour round trip just to get 1 sponsors logo anyone? Waiting almost 6 months for another?

We just got the shirt price back, so everything is sussed.

Sponsorship deals, membership prices etc all to be announced very soon.

PS, we are not talking about hundreds of dollars in expenses to get this thing started, it's in the thousands, so please join up when we launch.

Gary and slip have really been the driving force behind getting SAU Qld up and running (OK that was a bad pun!!). Yes, both have full-time jobs that have nothing to do with SAU and yes, both have contributed bucketloads of their own moolah to get things happening. The amount of things that need to happen for the club to be officially recognised is phenomenal, and the fact that it's happening AT ALL, particularly as it's being organised during spare time, is a tribute to the dedication both of the guys have to the Skyline scene.

Ben, you don't have to join if you don't want to but it certainly wouldn't be frowned upon :) I don't think slip's comment was aimed at anyone in particular - we need as many members as possible just to recoup the money that Gary and slip have spent, let alone to pay recurrent costs, "behind the scenes" stuff and once-off outlays to make your life behind the wheel that little bit more worthwhile!

Everyone's been really patient up till now - just hold out a little bit longer, we're nearly there! Don't forget that every member of the board is as fanatical about Skylines as anyone else on these forums - we'd like to see it up and running ASAP too, we just want to make sure it's done properly to avoid hiccups further down the track.

If we have this level of enthusiasm when the club is up and running, we're on a winner. :)

Great work done by all , it is so good to see some action . I have done the whole t'shirts , sponsor thing before with a sports club and it is not fun , but the rewards afterwards was worth it . SO going to be there for the launch , once I move to bris in two weeks and am able to walk on my now broken ankle ............ but yes I will be there ready to rock

    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
    • Hi, i’m converted my r34 4dr auto to manual but need help with gearbox wiring. There are bunch of wires no idea which one for speedo drive, neutral, reverse can anyone help me. IMG_6860.mov
