Thanks for your appreciation popinr33.

"B" and "P", thanks for your feedback on the Kakimoto.

I guess my dilemma is this...

Terry.jpg

Just a straight swap from the Nismo 3" to the Kakimoto 3.5" gives me this...

Terry-42.jpg

If the improvement, was just 3-4Kw, I'd just switch back to the Nismo exhaust which I'm quite happy with - even power-wise.

However, 13.4Kw is an appreciable and noticeable gain; so...

should one consider a Varex rear muffler, or perhaps wait for a 90mm HKS or equivalent.

Pls don't laugh, but I actually bought some ear plugs at the local chemist to-day (for temporary relief of course hehe) > proves I'm not going deaf just yet.

Terry, going by your photo's it looks like your version of the N1 is the PREMIUM model. That is rated at 98 Db (Who know's what RPM that Db rating is at. Proberbly when the starter motor is turning over) . HA! For starters it doesnt have a mid muffler (where as mine does) and the section after the catback is 90 mm (mine is 80). Would love to hear this thing on full noise! I'm sure it would sound just stupidly loud..... but oh so unreal level's of awsomeness at the same time!

Mega-N1 apparently, but I didn't know about "Premium" type "P"

There must be some sort of packing material inside that cannon - surely.

Yes it comes with a Restrictor/Silencer "B". I can see myself lined up with other cars at a Defect St'n and here's Terry ramming the silencer up its ass >_<

It looks as if it's never been fitted before - tight fit.

Thanks Michael & ML73ZR...

I realise that ^ ^ ^ whilst apologising to wifie saying, "Guess what! Something else has come up!"

Yes, she's hard to let go of.

And it doesn't make it any easier knowing that many friends here on SAU would chop off their li'l finger for the above. > A deposit was accepted to-day!

Love that "flat" torque/power curve.

Pretty much pushing out ~300KW from ~5300rpm to redline.

Thanks Rhys and Matt.

Just got the car back from Unigroup Eng.

The above figure was the final rKw one after boost had been rolled back to 1.4bar with 98RON and -7 turbs.

I wanted boost to come on earlier - bottom end power: but only a little top end power was sacrificed due to Yavuz' superb tuning.

Thanks too to Steve-0 for working with Yavuz and getting Poncams and Tomei cam gears to suit. Cams advanced 3-4 degrees.

Thanks - yet I have Yavuz to thank for that. Steve-0 and Yavuz case-conferenced on what my car needed!

I'm aware that it takes a special skill to place the mass sensors correctly on the D-Jetro and tune accordingly.

I understand that the new owner Simon will eventually take the car there too & make sure that the replacement 044 fuel pump is operating well, unlike its predecessor (which was also brand new). Congrats to Simon!

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
