Will get some footage through hopefully mid week.

Race 2, Sunday morning ended up 8th.

Race 3 - Put a couple of new Kuhmo's on, didn't help time much, lots nicer to drive - still in the 1.02's.

Busy crappy, action packed track - but Henry and I got the trophy - Yeah!!drivin1.gif

Here's some incar / out from Race 3

NSW Sports Sedan Championship Wakefield Park R2

Simply awesome Stu! Great race, great footage and great driving! Congratulations!

You must be stoked. Was it a cool trophy? Bet it's gone straight to the pool room. haha!

Thanks Mark

Karen did the footage, was wrapped to get the trophy - presentation was different, for a state series it was a walk by past the garage - congrats, there you go.

Other drivers and spectators were more excited, as me, when I actually realised I'd won.

Bathurst Regularity, Karen had a shocker!! Nominated 2.58's and basically straight off the batt 2.46's.

Thus putting her out of regularity - but had an absolute ball, the only downer for the weekend - we picked a cracked block on Wednesday night (oil in radiator), and the old girl (R33) couldn't quite cope for the whole weekend.

Had to retire lap 4 Saturday and missed Sundays run.

From the grin on Karen' face the first 2 days, I reckon I got a couple of years racing left yet, with the best pit crew and relief driver - bar none.

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

Irace last Friday - 29th April, qualifed 1st then the rains came - my 1999 Dunlop wets weren't' so good in races 1 and 2 - put slicks on anyway for 3rd race and went 8 seconds a lap quicker on slicks in the wet - than the wets - the only downfall was had to start from pit row - but got 7th.

Once again I think most competitors had a good day - was a few issues and hold ups through the day due to wet weather and people mixing abilities and capabilites.

NSW Supersprint R3 Wakefield Park - frosty start, but session 2 started to see some good times by many. (Consistent low 1.01's finally returned in AU)

Session 4 the AU showed some good spirit and we joined the 60 second club - was pretty happy with this on 3 race old tyres, 15 degree day.

Did a 1.00.95 didn't bother with last session as there was an oil spill at turn 4.

Congrats to all, but special mention to Nismoman for a PB - good stuff.

Cheers

Thanks Stuart! But congrats to you also new PB and fastest tin top of the day.

I'm stoked with my new PB of 1:05.42! Really pleased with the Silvia's pace at Wakefield. It's a favourite track of mine that's for sure.

Cheers

Mark

I'd say it's between 0.5 - 1 second quicker to the old old track.

The two recent changes I'm aware of:

1 - track resurface was carried out a while ago now (18mths ago?). It resulted in a quicker track probably close to a second faster.

2 - new ripple strips and curbing. This made it more difficult to jump the curbs so makes it slower again by maybe 0.5 sec

Plus I find Wakefield varies alot due to temperature and condition of track surface. Sometimes you can beat a PB by 0.5 sec, other times you struggle to match it.

The reason I'm going quicker is I added some aero pieces to my car, i.e. rear wing and front splitter/undertray. Plus Kumho V710 tyres which offer a bit more grip over the usual semi slick.

So far with these changes I've beaten my previous PB by 1.1 seconds at Wakefield and 2 seconds at Eastern Creek.

Time flies!

I went there in Jan 2008 and it had *just* been resurfaced.

I can't believe its been over 3 years and I haven't made it back there.

Car's looking good nismoman. Nice time too!

Time flies for sure. I haven't even gotten around to visiting circuits in other states so you are ahead of me there Harry.

My track exposure is limited to: Oran Park (RIP), EC and Wakie.

I'll have to save up some money and brownie points somehow and get my bum down to Phillip Island, Winton and Lakeside. QR dosen't really appeal to me.

Thanks for the compliments, the car has come a long way since 2008. Progress is slow but it's progress nonetheless.

New PB at EC yesterday: 1:44.19

And Stuart, sorry I temporarily hijacked your thread!

Congrats Mark another PB going well, Nick also pulled a blinder 1.37's in an evo.

Had car on standby - decided against - big night Saturday and wasn't happy with car prep - so we ventured back home

By all means hijack site - most news is good news.

Cheers

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
