Can anyone tell me the best way to buy a car in the Eastern States and import into WA.

Both for new and second hand cars.

I have been told that I will need to pay stamp duty twice or else that unless I can prove I live in, say Victoria, I can't transfer or register the car into my name.

Obviously people buy cars in ES and bring them to WA.

Can you help?

Yeah.. Drive car from whatever state.. Then get RWC in your state.. Rego in your state.. Pay stamp duty in your state..

Just check rules for WA.. i beleive some QLD cars imported under certain papers require a re-compliance in other states, etc...

hows everyones experience been with this?

im thinking of bringing a car in from the eastern states, they seem to be alot cheaper and there's a whole lot more of them.

are they usually pretty fussy about the RWC and rego'ing the car here?

i would be bringing in something older around the 5k mark, so the car is likely to not be 100% roadworthy ..

lol

+shipping 1500

rego 6 months ~250

pit fees ~80 if you past first time

fix car (buying sight unseen)

etc..

I do have odd taste in cars ...

but this time my budgets increased and i no longer need a daily! so its time for something more fun

just cant decide between a nice old classic Torana or something like the older MA60/70 Supras

dont really know what else I can get under 5k that will be good fun

$$$$$ fuel, food, motel etc..

Not much I can think on for fuel... but,

Food = just bring with you 1 month supply of instant noodles (or the like) & leech hot water from the resturants/locals where ever you go.

Motel = just sleep in your car. If you want a shower go to those petrol stations that also have showers in them.

Thats what a family friend did when he needed to make a trip to the eastern states & back.

Good luck

that would actually be an incredibly fun trip - james when are your uni holidays? LOL

perth has soo few cars and they cost a ton

im just worried about geting a RWC in perth when i bring the car over, my budget for this next cars like 5k so obviously its not gonna be 100% perfect, and might get picked up at the pits for a whole ton of stuff .. that would be annoying!

what dya rekn the chances of getting a 5k car from ES to pass the pits are confused.gif

dont you guys have a study break now?

mines the week after i think..?

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
