i have never played forza so i cant really compare, i have been a gt fan all my life and i hate xbox and their stupid controlls so i will also never be a forza man, im sure forza would be fun, and possibly more entertaining as a day to day game, but in the terms of driving i think the gt series at the moment would be hard to beat.

im not sure how many settings and what settings can be done on forza and i have seen alot of people say that gt5's settings dont work on the cars, but that is absolut bolloks, if i purchase a car and fully modify it, take it to a track as it is, there is atleast 10sec in alterations that can be done.

from the videos i have seen, the graphics are a little ordinary, and it is a proven fact that forzas lap times with the same car, tyres track ect are 5 -8 seconds quicker then gt5 and also about the same 5-8 sec faster then real life. i also think the physics int gt5 are very good, nothing can be like real life but revs over bumps and all that stuff are there, id like to know if lowering the pressure of tyres in forza actually decreases tyre wear very very fast around the track, because if it doesnt then its a bullshit option.

the damage on the cars in gt5 doesnt show very well sure, but its new and needs perfecting, forza crash's dont look amazing and real either.

i also saw a list of cars for forza a few pages back

2 rx7s

1 gto

standard 32 33 34 gtr v specs

4 standard sti's

4 evos

no nismos

there are heaps of interesting cars missing

i have a fully modded

89 rx7

92 rx7

99 rx7 bathurst

00 rx7 rz

02 rx7 spirit r

thats just rx7s, lets not get into the 12 different year and model gtrs with different max powers at different rpms, im not even including race cars, then theres evo 1 - x, about 15 stis

i do like the sound of some of the cars in forza, its cool to hear something different, i also must agree for the first month of gt5 it was a little painful, but once you get going, the different cars and different options gets me on there pretty often

iv won every race and ive had most cars, the fun for me is racing against my ghost and perfecting my laptimes

i can see how forza would be fun, but from all the videos i have seen it is simply too arcadie compared to gt5, arcadie wins with %90 of the public, but for the true driving experience i beleive gt5 is the winner

its like the age old fifa vs pro evolution, fifa sells bucket loads more... but what do the footballers play???

A few things.

You haven't played Forza.

You're guessing at the 5-8 seconds, the test was done with a pro driver and a 'veteran racing gamer' in Forza 1. Unlike GT, the physics engine in Forza has actually improved with every game.

You list cars that are in the game as missing.

Yes, even old Colin Mcrae Rally games shit all over GT5 and Forza 4 for realistic damage but at least Forza 4 generally makes sense.

yes its true, i havnt played forza, it looks like fun it does, but from the videos the graphics dont look as good,

as for the car list, iv searched and found the same lists, it only states 3 sandard rx7s, but lets not compare the amount of cars in the game... its silly gt5 has 1031

also if a game comes out originally with poor physics, there is more room to advance the next game,

this is a silly debate on my part i guess as i havnt played forza, but i find it hard to beleive that forza will ever trully compete with gran turismo, the gt5 network is massive, racing teams are willing to put a person who wins a gt5 competition behind the wheel of le mans cars for crying out loud. and they have won...

from what i have read and my thoughts on x box, i cant see me enjoying forza more then a hard battled online race of gt5

-dons flamesuit

CBF reading rest of thread.

Got both GT5 and Forza 4 at release dates........

gt5 has its merits, it's a little... more realistic in different things.... but...

Forza 4 is better, and will continue to get better with later releases....

and I've owned all bar the prologues of GT series....

/thread.

been playing rivals - drift mode around maple valley...... absolutely love it, currently time is consumed by bf3 but as of mid last week was top 3% of A-class 373kw car around maple.

Fair enough yes they play real football, and basketball players play real basketball, but don't tell me you think sportsmen don't play their sports on consoles

Come on maaaateee

they probably do, but not as a 'simulator'. they wouldn't be expecting any sort of realism from it

GT5 has an impressive number of cars but christ there is a lot of filler. Seriously, the Ford GT with no stripe is a separate car? In that case Forza has an infinite amount of cars.

i'm a GT fan and i will gladly accept that as a big flaw. they didn't need to put in 360 different versions of the rx7 or mx5 or even GTR.

lol, this guy needed some burning.....who starts a comparison with "ive never played the game but"

but as per usual you always drag your opinion into it, and spout some shit that just aint true. GT5 physics are faaaar beyond what they were even in gt5 prologue.

The important bit there is 'with every game' I didn't say GT never improved.

^does it show you your time and where it ranks against the xbox community.

It shows you your best time against every single online users best completed lap in that race, including what assists they used, what performince index their vehicle was and you can download their ghost to see what they did.

  • 4 months later...

Well, a bit Sandra Sully on this one but better late than never.

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/05/turn-10-talks-forza-motorsport-4-porsche-dlc-with-autoblog/

The most interesting thing will be Porsche vs RUF. I have the season pass so I think I get this one for 'free' too.

Ive had 1,2,3,4 and now 5 of the gt series. They are unbeatable as a simulation and ive spent so many hours on GT5 over the last 2 or so years, however there seems to be a lack of fun at times when comparing to some street racing games such as Midnight club and the earlier need for speed's. Obviously these games do not have the longevity or proper phyics like gran turismo, but they have some good features like the customisation, free roam racing etc.

It looks like Forza is probably the most complete game on the market. Such a shame its on 360 as i hate xbox controllers and i will never get one.

    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
    • You just gotta be really, really, really clear and decisive with what you want your end product to be. 99% of people who want this conversion aren't "I want to run a 295 front tyre!" so they don't really need the widebody. They just want the OEM body to look a little less dumpy, so bonnet, bar, skirts job done with some camber, stretch, slam. It's when you want that, but then decide to pivot later you get big problems. See also if you're willing to get an all in one fibreglass bar, and you're willing to accept fibreglass problems like cracking the entire item on a driveway, instead of just a piece attached to the bottom, etc etc etc. Decide this all before buyin'.
    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
