Saw this on R31 skyline club and didn't notice it here, so thought i would post it up.

http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-news/new-technology-making-nonsense-of-vicroads-pplater-car-restrictions-20110327-1cbxb.html

for comparison the FT 86 team is aiming for 150kw and 1200kg and the r32 GTST was 157kw and 1230kg. so both would be close to power to weight but the line would lose due to having the turbo under current law. Yet the 86 would be almost as quick.

OMG i am going to laugh sooooooooo hard at mohsen if it goes back

i'm gonna schedule a week off work for all the laughin i'm gonna be doing

I would get back into another r32 taxi quicker than you can say I have an epic beard

I highly doubt it would be retroactive such as what happened up here.

They added pretty much these exact regs but it only applied to people becoming P platers after a certain date july 1 a couple of years ago.... I made it by 6 months.

personally i hope they dont do it.

p platers are not great drivers, sure many of them are good steerers etc... but as for being a safe driver and understanding the roads, that takes a long time.

what thy realy need to do is cut out all 6 cyl cars... that way p platers would never be involved in commodore culture, which is responsible for like 99.98% of road deaths

personally i hope they dont do it.

This man speaks the truth!

Unfortunately it's a cultural thing, young people need acceptance, and the quickest easiest way to get that umongst their peers is by having a fast car. Then coupled with that, a commodore seems to cement you a chunk of masculinity, you are instantly transformed into a man in the eyes of your fellow bogans if you drive a commonwhore.

Then you see these f**kheads getting behind the wheel with a few mates, they think they're all hot shit, then they end up wasting lives.

Makes me sick.

I'm all for p plate restrictions, but I still think it's the wrong way to go about it. Driver training and education first, but that takes effort, so there's no chance the gumbyment will do that!

personally i hope they dont do it.

I agree 11ty would be good if Awd cars were permitted. Breaking traction is so easy in the VT, was real hard in the 32

personally i hope they dont do it.

LOL, maybe they should just be banned from driving the top 2 groups of "hoon" vehicles. But then we'd get more getting caught speeding or upside down in skylines. confused.gif

I like the way they create what, 5 sets of P Plate laws yet the statistics don't move?

125kw/T won't stop a car doing 200km/h into a tree, or remove the drivers "want" to drive at 200km/h, or prevent them driving the speed limit in fog and rain.

It's driver attitude more than anything. Understanding roads, reading traffic etc, doesn't matter what car your in, so long as they're not driving recklessly.

Some more for thought on a power to weight.

My old camry sprotivo had 116kw 1400kg yet easerly reaced 150km/h R31 skyline 114kw and 1250kg yet was almost over the power to weight rule (well was when i moded it).

    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
    • Wouldn’t touch par if they gave it to me. You need to ask how much power you’re looking to make and then add about 50% to it because that’s what you’ll end up making  The factory box says no more at about 350kw or so, the upgraded synchro boxes won’t handle much over 500kw for long and at that point you’re looking at an auto or dog engagement manual,  once you’ve gone dog engagement you may as well go sequential, they cost a little bit more but it’s worth it  also while you’re at it you should upgrade the transfer case with 10 friction plates
