ssxRicho
Ya the weather can't get helped Good to see everyone. See those at Winton next weekend then DECA and WRX Sandown after that. The supra was sporting a sequential gearbox and was seriously moving, also a V8 supercar (spec'd) that got pinged for noise after 2 laps. We kept it on the black stuff, but one of the GM boys didn't and the armco at turn 3-4 were rearrange a little. Roy
Was good to be back out there, even if after my first exploratory session I was pinged for noise. So didnt even get to put a lap in I did go out in the wet in the afternoon but was forced to shift at 3,400rpm due to noise But got to put som eheat cycles into the new brakes Oh well. I had no idea where the correct braking points were and was just trying to bed the brakes. So much harder to pick the braking points compared to Winton. Once they were up to temp I put in two laps to really jump hard on the brakes to get them nice and hot then backed off to let everything cool down. Was shocked that I did a 1:25 flat. The old girl seems to drive about the same despite the dyno showing I have lost a fair wack of mid range. I reckon if i didnt get pinged for noise it would have been fun chasing the Supra In all it was a trying day, picked up a puncture from a screw in the carpark, Radcam farked up again and didnt get a 90% tilt at a lap....but I think the brakes passed their test and I got some seat time which is drastically needed. JAGR33
Well done Bris, looks like the old girl has still got it in her. Mate I'd love to see what this thing would do with a decent wheel alignment, quiter exhaust (to be able to go flat out) and more seat time. Third fastest overall, gotta be happy with that. Look forward to see how you go next Sunday at Winton... Roy
Yeh, just downloaded the Borla catalogue. Will check out the underside of my car with a tape measure and will try to get two 4" muffles under there and do a new dump pipe and 4" exhaust. Blue
Was shocked that I did a 1:25 flat. The old girl seems to drive about the same despite the dyno showing I have lost a fair wack of mid range. I reckon if i didnt get pinged for noise it would have been fun chasing the Supra Apparently the Supra is currently a couple of hundred HP down on what it used to be, I have seen it about the traps a few times and thought at a sprint earlier this year that it was not as quick as I remembered. Still no slouch! I was happy enough with a 1.31 in my coupe given it is effectively the first time I have run it there (Got about ten laps the only other time, stuck behind some nong in a Gemini who was like a snail through the corners and dead set fast in a straight line, and then it rained so hard that they stopped the day) I could certainly have gone a few seconds quicker with a bit more bravery under brakes at the end of the two straights. I can say that a HR31 on semis is not a lot of fun without power steering, the belt failed in the first wet session so it was armstrong time! It was still managable (Just) so we kept running. But with the rain it made hard work of a twitchy car, 200 odd RWKW at 5600 rpm and seriously snappy onto boost in the rain is sort of attention focussing. Second was virtually unusable, third was inclined to break away at about 4500 rpm and it broke away a couple of times in fouth. Would have been great fun with the PS pump still doing it's thing. Russman
Good to hear you're out with the 31 Paul. Was the supra red? I remember a really fast red supra from about a year ago running 1min 18's or 19's. Blue
Yep, that would be the one, it used to be an absolute rocket in a straight line, now it is just very very fast. I was told yesterday that it is nearly 200KW down on what it used to have! I have been told in the past that it had around 500KW and given the straight line stomp it had first time I saw it, I would think that was possible! Interesting way they unload it. It arrives on the back of a flatbed rigid truck parked on top of a steel lifting frame. They hook the truck mounted crane to the frame, hoist the whole lot on to the ground next to the truck and then push the car off on the flat. It would be nice to have money to have toys like that.
