If you don't have a built motor, forget about it.

You are going from a 300rwkw turbo setup to over 400rwkw with TD05 twin high mounts. Which cannot be anything but mega laggy depending on what you want

Thats utter drivil...

First off what N1's are they? 32,33 or 34 N1's??? 300rwkw... only if they were 34 N1's and if they were 32/33 N1's they're going to be very laggy for what they are.

Where the hell do you get 'if you want more than 300rwkw then you need a built engine' BS from. Factory 26's can easily handle over 400rwkw for many years. I'd wager most people on this forum who run more than 300kw are doing so on stock or very close to factory engines.

16g td05's offer a very similar delivery and power production to t517z's... However with better manifolds and external wastegates would be more suited to that end of the power scale.

... just because they're not your precious -5's dosn't mean they're 'megga' anything.

If the RB26 is brand new it might cope with 400kws.....but 20 years of abuse i doubt even at 300kws most untouched RB26s wouldnt last 2 track days

Again... not true.

I campaingned a stock 15yo unopened rb26 for more than 2 years drag racing and street driving with more than 400rwkw plus nitrous before I made a mistake and killed it....

I was just at a track day where there was a stock rb25 that makes 360+rwkw is track often and see's a general hard life... guess what, more than 3 years in it's current tune!

Ah my confusion between TD06/TD05, my bad there. Wasn't paying attention this morning clearly - hence you'll note I said high mounts.

However to say...

Factory 26's can easily handle over 400rwkw for many years.

Shows nothing but ignorance and is grossly misleading users. It's stupid to expect a stock 26 (20yrs old) to take 400rwkw day in day out. Especially when you are basing your claim off handfuls of motors. Not the general populace.

I can't think of any many users on this forum who've reliability run 400rwkw for extended periods without something letting go. Some have run 360-380rwkw for 2-3 years, but eventually died also.

I call reliability - something that will last. 3-5 years for a motor is not reliable. Plus this guy isn't after 400rwkw anyway. You'd know if you'd read his past threads he isn't a risk taker.

im not looking at super power that will require needing to rebuild engine, just looking at simple bolt on mods, to get more out of car.

400rwkw will require him to rebuild the engine in the end regardless. So 400rwkw is just plain dumb.

Hopefully Rhys is smart enough to realise this as well. Because son of rajab knows you won't be paying for the rebuild. He will.

I'd wager most people on this forum who run more than 300kw are doing so on stock or very close to factory engines.

So would I. What's you point?

Lots of people are running between 300-350rwkw on stock motors. It's a far cry from 400rwkw+ however.

Drag racing is a different kettle of fish to circuit stuff..at the drags you do what half a dozen runs at say 11secs of WOT compared to 4 15-20 min sessions of full noise.

Kinda relevent, a Friend of mine drag raced his XA hardtop falcon for years, making 480rwhp with stock rods/crank and hypertech pistons, first track day bent a rod in the 2nd session.

Quick edit - I would happily whack 2 TD-05s to my 220,000k old 1jz and dragrace/steet drive it....would I do track days no way!

Not sure if the OP wants to do circit work or just have a quickish street/strip car

1. It's not ignorance... it's experience.

2. You don't have to build an engine to run 400rwkw capable turbo's... simple as that.

3. How many full built engines don't last 1000km little own 5 years- A LOT!

4. I don't know the OP- I don't know his car or what he's going to do with it... I don't presume to tell him what he should or shouldnt have.

Why dose this have to turn into a built v stock, -5 v td... debate thread?

J.

Trust turbos are awesome fun though.

My old TD06-20g kit made 580kw, stock bottom end with my race cars head fitted ( big apexi cams, ports and valves)

It was great but lasted 3 months before smashing the block to buts

Ha ha ha... well daaa

Hope it didn't damage the head... oooo...

Were they 8cm or 10cm exh housings?

This set up has seen 407rwkw..

As I said above, very similar to t517z's. It's actually the reason why I bought them to start with as I made a little over 400 with t517z's but felt at that power level better exh manifolds and an external wastegate may have been a better option.

1. Yes, it is ignorance.

2. Why would you run turbos capable of 400rwkw, and not make 400rwkw? :ermm:

3. Nothing to do with the conversation.

4. Neither do I. But i had a quick go over his post history.

Nowhere in this thread have I even mentioned Garrett turbos. So it's not Garrett vs Trust debate. You attempted to start one with earlier comments, as you have with built motors.

I think the most ironic part of this thread, and probably why you are trying to steer it off course...

It is your turbo kit he is looking at buying.

No wonder you are saying it's great, you can make 400rwkw on stock motors safely.

YES IT'S MY TURBO KIT FOR SALE...

If you look over my posts for the last 6 odd years... I'm not saying anything new.

I don't really care if they guy buy's it or not. It dosn't really influence my comments.

You just have to be right though don't you. Whatever.

So lets get back no topic hmm?? before you start deleting my posts-

"i got R32 GTR and was told it has N1 turbos when i bought it. l noticed guy selling this on forum how does it compare to what i got now? Twin td05 kit to suit rb26 with manifolds and dump pipes"

It will make more power and will be more laggy.

Cheers

Justin

I know you are not saying anything new Justin, and you've been saying it for quite a while. Not arguing that.

The general consensus, results, user feedback overall on motor deaths etc. I think it's a bit of a risk to say 400rwkw is easily producible, reliable and so on with a stock bottom end.

I don't delete posts just because it's a healthy discussion dude. That's going a bit too far.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
