Hi Guys,

I want to put adjustable Cam Gears on my R34 GTT as I have Tomei Type B's Cams installed. The VCT (NVCS) is not been used. The Exhaust Side fits on no problems but the Intake side does not. The Intake side can be bolted up to the Cam Disc that sits in front of the Cam Gear but the hole on the Cam Gear that sits in the Cam is too big.

I did a 30 minute search on the forums and have found nothing, I have tried searching everywhere for an adjustable Cam Gear that fits on with no success. There has to be people who have installed Adjustable Cam Gears in their 34's.

Can anyone help me with this? Shed some light on any products or what type of setups they have.

i was under the impression that Rb25 guys didn't do cam gears that much as it doesn't make the difference it does like on the Rb26's?

and if they do, i think they only do one side (exhaust?) and leave the rest - why would you not want your VCT? would that not be more beneficial than cam gears? i think that may have something to do with neo people not changing them perhaps, and you not being able to find anything in search results

in all my years of GTT ownership, cam gears didn't once come up in discussions with my tuner or other people - but then again, i was running standard camshafts, maybes that's why

Hi Guys,

I really appreciate your input and as from checking out many tunes. I am just going to leave the stock cams gears in. I find the VCT pretty much useless, it's only on the Inlet side + you don't see GTR's with a system like this. And for good reason.

How did you conclude that the VCT is useless ( stupid Nissan wasting money?)

Have you done a dyno run with it switched on and then with it disabled and compared the charts?

Sorry dude but you will never beat the low/mid range of the VCT, it's simply impossible.

RB26's didn't come with VCT simply because it was not an option - not for good reason.

Think about why people are using RB25NEO heads on 26 bottom ends, HKS V-Cam, jaycar style VCT controllers setups etc etc

VCT is king. End of story. If it's not working for you then you have underlying issues causing these gains not to be realised.

Hey guys,

Thanks for posting the graphs up. The low to mid range is a big improvement with VCT. I did eventually find a set of cams that will keep the VCT. There from Greddy and cost a fortune but are well worth it :)

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
