That's not that amazing tbh. I've heard of people hitting around 4500-5000rpm in 4th gear at 170 in a bone stock car.

my friend reckons he took his mums excel to 220 or something on a freeway.. they take a fair beating.

I took mine to 180 when I was 17. Totally not worth it.

was just saying that NA skylines really lack in the performance aspect, even a crummy old hyandai excel has a top speed faster

180kmh @ roughly 5000rpm in 5th gear and struggling to get any more speed out of it. Did have the speed limit cut out on it too. Done on the track ofcourse

So it doesnt have a limiter ??

I know my 32 (auto) is limited to 180 and definetly wont go any higher then that.

Even at 180 it physically doesnt feel like it could get much higher then 200 (although a rb25de would have a bit more grunt then the shitty rb20de).

i got about 160kmh on 5000rpm gear 5, don't know if it would go any faster the car was vibrating lots

I did 170kmh twice... the car nearly fell to pieces when i was braking  I would try 200kmh on hwy with my RB25DE once i decided to suicide.

really only 170/180 kmh, fastest ive gone is 140 kmph Comforatbly in an AU falcon, easily coulld go over 200 imo.

I've gone past my speedo (180km/h) in my na 34, can't remember the rpm. Was a bit surprised thought it would be limited at 180.

what speed did you end up hitting?

you have to take into account error in the speedo unit. from my experience in multiple imports, generally the speed limiter kicks in at an indicated (approx) 190kmh. this is because they often factor in a few percentage over read so that the speedo reads faster than the actual speed so that you don't get booked so much (and because it is a legal requirement from what i gather)

All of the factory maps I have looked at have the speed limiter set to 178kmh, there will of course be a discrepency in speed between what the wheels are actually doing and what the speedo says, depending on tyre sizes and how lazy the speedo is.

exactly what i said.

i should also point out that when i had my 33 on the dyno it hit the limiter at 180kmh by the dyno speed reading, but it was past it on the gauge.

I hit 170 in my ca20e equipped Nissan pintara, was pretty damn scary in fwd. I now have a N/A r34 and on a dyno run it went off the clock completely at 7400rpm. I had it at 150 at one stage on the road and the speedo needle was still going strong. I don't think it would have any problems getting 200.

im getting my flame suit ready, but i think all this chat about the max speed of an n/a skyline is just pointless ... you wouldnt buy an n/a skyline to go at speeds above 180km/h, thats how i think about it anyway...

getting to 150kmh is easy. getting past 180kmh is a lot harder.

and don't pay much attention to how fast a car speeds up on a dyno. for starters there is no aero drag and that is one of the biggest factors in top speed. that said, a natro skyline would do over 200kmh, but it will take a bit to get there

Yer i dont really get it either man... but saying that, with with speed limiter removed the RB25de will do over 200 but dont expect it to get there in any great hurry.

Its not about how fast you can go its about how fast you can get there. Hitting 200km/h in a DE, the turbo counterpart can probably hit 200, stop, then do it again in the same amount of time.

That said some dick I know has a Yaris, he used to do M4 driving at 180km/h, smooth as f**k lol.

I've got where 190km/h would be on the speedo in the rb20e, but I tried again by just flooring it in 5th and as soon as I hit 180km/h the speed cut kicked in. Think it was because I reved it to 6800rpm in 4th the first time and I think thats past 180km/h then changed to 5th. Yes it's slow.

ive hit roughly around 190 as it reads on the speedo before the speedlimiter kicked in the the car just rapidly decelerated to around 160 even with my foot flat to the floor. 1st time i tried it, i thought i blew the engine lol

that won't make a scrap of difference as the ecu simply goes off the speed sensor. it doesn't know what gear you are in (and it doesn't care). my 180sx used to hit the speed limiter in 4th.

and to do that in a car with a rb20e, you must've had a good tail wind going down a steep hill, lol

I got an r33 GTS4 same stock engine Ive got no problem getting to 170 and then it just seems to crawl at snails pace up and ran out of road . . . errr track so slowed at 175. I think mines a fair bit weightier but I had always thought that would mean less accelaration and wouldnt affect top speed as much. I know its not alot to many people but ive always wanted to hit 200.

    • Dredgggggeeee time; I have recently finally started driving the car. It sat for so long that the fuel tank gave birth to rust sludge and blocked my lift pump sock and one of my walbro 460's and left grime, rust chunks and muck all through the surge tank and system. I decided to commit and pull the trigger on an oem r32 gtr fuel tank and Frenchys twin 460 / sender / surge tank hanger combo and all new larger lines and fittings etc, also boost doc heater hose kit / new heater core and a heap of other bits and shits like wideband sensor installed in the dump and Syltech iacv + lines and all wired and added to current tune. now having lightly driven it a couple times without issue, I can happily report on the hta3076 in its current tune. still no boost control switched on, 20psi gate springs, car makes 22psi at 3200rpm in 6th gear with 30-50% TPS from cruise at 100kmh. Going by the old graph, this means it should be making 300-325whp at the same numbers above. Very very responsive setup under true road driving loads. all that's left for the build is body loom + PDM, finish the remote aircon setup, install carbon fibre parts and go for full tune and 30psi. the 315 rear tyres are now performing like they're 195's, wheel spin in any gear at almost any rpm, whereas my previous setup hooked up in 3rd no issue, albeit Nt01's back then / RB25 5spd vs (new) old date r888r's Z34 6spd now, + obviously all the support upgrades I listed in the quoted post above. car sits at 1-3psi on cruise at 100kmh, expectations totally exceeded and I'm beyond stoked with all this so far. • I've also been eyeing their rear axles for my car. I purchased seat mounts from them about 7 years ago and they were hot garbage so I've been a little wary about purchasing them. With that being said, please buy them and get back to us haha.
    • Can a moderator please move this into the right category.. I've accidently put this into racing build thread 🤦🏽‍♂️
