or buy yourself a rb25det half cut i did for my vl however i underestimated how much it would cost me and it ended up costing me close to 8-10gs

if you turbo a r31 skyline( stock rb30) you will need to rebuild whole motor no point just slapping on a decomp plate and turbo kit cause it wont hold much boost at all. if you want information on all of it go to calaisturbo.com.au they will tell you everything yopu need to know about the rb30

Like luvpsi said, there are 'cheap and easy' ways to go about it but they will definitely cost you the better part of 10 grand.

Get a manual one then buy a skyline halfcut and bolt it all in... is the easiest way to go by far. Even if its an RB20, it sounds like all you want is a turbo.

Be it myself, I would need a good reason to have a R31 to begin with lol... But then if it was what I wanted, I would buy the R33 or R34 half cut, then conjur up a RB2530DET hybrid by following instructions well documented on this site, then get a full exhaust, fmic, fuel pump, good injectors, good afm, tunable ecu and a 500ish HP turbo (id be willing to try an ATR43G3 on this budget project) and get it all together.

With epic torque I would saaayyy.... thats the better part of 15 grand though.

as all these guys have said, youll spend 10k doing it properly, maybe a few grand initially doing it on the cheap then when stuff breaks and you end up doing it properly it will all add up.

Just buy one already turbo'd it will be cheaper trust me, just ask anyone who has already done it. You need tyres, suspension, clutch, fuel pump, tuning etc, these are all the added extras on top of turboing the motor assuming it doesn't explode.

Firstly. f**k all the haters above...

Secondly. Easy

buy VL turbo aka 270cc hose tail injectors or any other similar type of hosetail injector.

Buy turbo manifold. Ebay used to be a good place but stock is low. Try for a 2nd hand stock cast iorn vl turbo manifold.

Buy a turbo. An rb25det turbo ia a good start for about 180rwkw

contact nistune for a custom remap. Around $100 exc postage

Custom oil+water lines are $100-150 on ebay

now. Either take the lot to a resonable performance garage and have them fit it and have the piping+dump pipe fabricated. This will cost around $1000

Or do it yourself and save around $700 labour but tou will need to pay for random pipe and joiners and also pay for the exaghust to be made.

I turboed an automatic TI r31 for around $1500 total using a KKR480 turbo $600 and mates rates on the dump pipe

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
