blue hour?

I didn't bother converting the whole thing, i just desaturated the bits i thought were distracting from the story in the photo. I want to go back there, or to a similar spot and do it again with a different lens. it's boring how it is now but i have a pretty cool idea on how to re-do it. :D

Jay, you give me wood :O

Hahahaha point and pray! You've got like 135 degrees of angle to play with don't you, so as long as it's semi accurate, you'll get the shot hopefully lol.

A couple random things from me.

5 minute impromptu shoot with a mates car. Didn't have any modifiers with me. Will shoot it again at a later date with more time hopefully :)

Nice on jay :) Wouldnt mind a gopro one day. Do you know if they have a full water proof edition? That would be fantastic!!

Nice shots there kory.. Hard to pan in the dark??

Matt - Howd the light painting pics of my car turn out? Any good?

you can get waterproof goPro's. Even 3D ones if you wish.

Shots turned out for what there were.. being nothing more than a car parked on the street. i'll have a look and post up the best one tonight or later in week for you.

Who's car is that Kory?

Wet skidpan is NOT drifting.

Here's some of mine from the night...

I'll be doing a write up on the event, and will be putting more pics up on my site through the week if you're interested.

yeah all the gopros come with a case that includes a waterproof back. they are crap underwater tho, but they can be fixed. the curved lens stuffs up focus on them so a lot of people are hacking flat lenses to go over the round one with some success. theres even some you can buy that have a red filter built in and the difference it makes to underwater shots is unreal! i have to get a new case soon, i chipped the lens on mine and then went and cut a hole in the side of it so i dont have to take it out to charge it, haha.

Otherwise if i can save up enough I will get a aquaone case for the 5dm2. Im going port douglas end of year and want to take some underwater shots.

Thanks for the info about the gopro. I guess you get what you pay for. Just wish the aquaone wasnt so expensive :(

Rest are here:

the shots you could get with an aquaone would make the initial expense worth it. but what an initial expense it is! i looked into cases for nikons and nearly died that the prices were near enough what the body was :O

awesome family shot there sidd! you certainly have a way with people and portraits.

Sidd, Rhys and whoever else is interested, GoPro have a daily give-away for everything in one of their full kits. I *think* the only things they don't include are the new "LCD BacPac" screen and "Battery BacPac"

Link: http://gopro.com/daily-giveaway/

I'll make a 1920x1080 paper from that shot sometime through the week. There's already a bunch of a wallpaper files on my website if you haven't looked already.

I like the crazy go-pro pics. i'm considering picking one up myself soon.

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
