I have found that if I do put v-power in the Gtr feels a little docile, but I have also since found that the exhaust cam was buggered and timing was all over the place.. The clincher for me was a mates 180, he is running about 280rwkw on standard cams and valve train, and is one of those freaky natural mechanics who just gets cars, he has found that v-power tends to foul plugs more than anything else, there were 1 or 2 other issues, but I am not sure what they were, so I won't make claims. It is always ultimate for me

As has already been said... 98 is 98 and the most likely reason a car loses perfomance on a 98 fuel is it's probably stale from sitting in the servo's tanks for longer than usual simply because there isn't enough people using it quick enough. If you buy your 98 fuel from a servo that would sell a lot of it you can bet it will be as good as any other servo's 98 fuel. It is hard to know which servos go through enough 98 to have to keep topping up with fresh fuel but thats where it's hit and miss.

ahh, there's no crap to suck in, there's a sock that covers the fuel pump no? and either way, the pump is at the bottom, so crap surrounds the pump whether at high or low levels.

but running the fuel level low might introduce bubbles into the system

I would say the best fuel would be any 98RON fuel from a Caltex/BP/Shell/Mobil petrol station that is usually very busy; which means fuel supply has a high turnover rate.

Can't remember where i read it, but someone mentioned BP and another brand of petrol comes from the same refinery.

you will be sucking crap from the bottom of the tank no matter what, it's just that when the fuel level is lower the conecntration of crap is higher, that said, if you run your tank low a few times in a row then you will have sucked up a fair bit of crap and most of it will end up in your fuel filter, so it won't be so much of an issue down the track. that said, everytime you fill up you would also stir up any crap at the bottom of the tank and to a lesser extent this also happens when you drive over rough roads.

I always get Caltex 98, but only because it's the most convenient for me to get to.

To be honest... I've tried 95 and 98 octane from several different retailers and not really noticed any difference in performance.

Of course, but being a cheap arse Asian every time if I do go to a further away station I did the math using my car's average fuel consumption (12.5 - 13.5L/100km), the extra fuel it will use going the extra kms to that station compared to the closet one, the estimate amount of fuel I'll be putting in and the extra cost minus the difference in fuel price between the stations & overall if there is still a net saving I will go, otherwise I will go to my usual Caltex near Osborne Park.

BTW, I not sure if the other states have it, but the WA government have fuel watch website where it lists all the fuel prices for today & tomorrow so I use that to get all the prices of the main servos in my area before I do the math.

the missu and I kept having an argument over fuel in her honda, i kept telling her to put bp ultimate in it but she doesnt want to listen and keeps putting 91 or e10 cause its cheap and aparently all the same, so i made her do a little test..

Filled it up run till the light come on..

BP ultimate 550 kms on i think was 55l..

E10 did about 450km for the 55l...

With the price difference in the 2 km per dollar was almost identical didnt bother testing 91 yet. Cause i dont use it but i will do that test next for curiosity sake but i expect to get around 500km

But it just goes to show there is no reason not to run premium fuels as the extra mileage makes up for the extra cost and buying a fuel on price alone is naive..

i actually prefer to run e10 in her car for its cleansing properties but if I take a long trip I use Ultimate for the extra mileage...but it really doesnt matter..I would use BP all the time cause it definately makes more power but that means argueing with a woman so I settle for e10, i dont drive the thing so who cares

Of course these tests have nothing to do with power..for power In my 33 I believe BP ultimate is the best but I do like Vpower as well it feels snappier and more livelyy under throttle though probably not as fast as BP..

i did a similar test in the missus SSS. this wasn't just 1 tank either. i ran each different fuel for a few months so that i could rule out any possibly differences from driving style, terrain or trip type, because basing your results over 1 tank of fuel isn't a good idea and could see you wasting a lot of money for no reason in the long run. this was based on 2 different 98 fuels, 2 different e10's and 1 91 octane. the difference between them all was much less than 1L/100kms. i've done similar tests in other cars i've owned, but generally only for a few tanks rather than for a few months, and always had similar results. with the price difference being about 10% and the fuel savings generally being below 5%, it isn't worth it in my situation.

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo.     • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
