Yeah, that's pretty slow for a GTR with GT2530s... But I guess he was only running 1.2 bar boost... New clutch and 1.6 bar and hopefully he'll break 120mph...

Your a hard ba$tard merli... jeeees I'd be rapt with anything that started with an 11...

Even at 17psi.. a street car that doesn't stress pulling easy an 11 is pretty impressive to me anyway. I know guys eg: with sti's MY03 pushing 22+psi with motecs exhausts etc etc.. and their lucky to see below mid 12's, stressing the crap out of their cars  oh well, the day will come and they'll realise I was right & they were wrong, "Save your cash & buy a GTR"

hahahahhahaa...

Well an 11 is an excellent time, well done.

The reason why I was so surprised/crest-fallen/upset in hearing that it only managed 116mph was because I'm going for the smaller GT-SS turbos on mine, and I want a 10 out of the thing. Granted, I'll be using nitrous as well, a whole second is quite a lot to make up for with nitrous.

Hmmmm...

116mph does seem slow for a 1/4 mile... but im not expert - you got the 11 sec figure so its all good

I have been trying a few G-tech runs to try to figure out how to launch/shift with my car...

Best was 12.4@191kms/h (119mph)... but that was an average launch with wheel spin and a bit of clutch slip... (hence why i still need more practice launching)... (this was with a passenger and 3/4 tank of fuel)

I'm hoping to get into the 11's - i'll be happy if i can....

Well done markr34gtr! I haven't been out to willowbank for ages, last time I was out there you were just into the 12's. I might have to have a chat with you when my newly aquired GTR finally gets complied (been 5 weeks in the workshop!), get some tuning tips.

the reason the mph was low was i got there at 7.30 pm late from work did one run straight away when heat soak had already set in.. as we all no..

first run ran crap... so we changed the plugs to shrouded type plugs...

second run did 12.1 at 117mph but hit the rev limiter in 1st gear.. bugger....

third run did the 11.99 straight after the second run... engine still hot..

fourth run sprayed a little water on the cooler first had about 10mins break then

ran the 11.96 at 116mph..

merli just remember r34 gtrs are geared differnt to 32 and 33gtrs and are quite a bit heavier... not many r34 gtrs have done 10sec passes yet and this is why....

when i get my twin plate clutch and have say 22psi boost i am sure a 11.6 and 120mph plus run is well within this cars reach....

anyhow i am happy thats the main thing...

cheers....

Sorry Mark and others, I honestly didn't mean to be hard up on you... An 11 is an excellent effort, and especially considering your imperfect runs, heat soak (I can't believe you got so many runs in!!! We're lucky to get one run an hour at WSID) and low boost setting.

I'm just starting to doubt whether my turbo choice will allow me to break into the 10s, and these results just didn't fill me with confidence, that's all :(

no worries merli.... mate hks 2530;s are the only choice for all round driving and top end...

makes power from 4000rpm to 8200rpm...peak power at 6600rpm or so....

to be honest not many gtrs with 2530s even pull 10 sec pass.

gtss turbos will be good for track times not really drag strip....just what i have read....

we have now got a good set of spark plugs to run higher boost... the denso iridiums were not happy at 17psi...dont know why just didnt like it even with 0.7gap....

cheers...

Mark what rwkws are you running?? Don't wanna be a hero or anything but my best time so far is 12.09 @ 114mph (1.85 60ft), thats with standard turbos and standard ecu with 235 rwkws...

Just installed a Nismo fuel pressure reg and got it dynoed last week and got 259 rwkws...

I'm hoping to break an eleven tomorrow night at calder with this setup....

Good result anyway, with more practise, better clutch and more boost you should get a mid 11 comfortably...

Merli, your gonna be pushing s@#t up hill to break a ten with GTSS's, but if your going the whole hog (forged bottom end) its possible!!!

Cheers

about 280rwks at 17psi.... need 20 to 22psi and she will do mid 11s all day...

but single plate clutch is getting very smelly, oops...

280 rwkws, well then thats a really good result then, with better clutch and more boost, u should see low 300 rwkws and mid 11....

GREAT EFFORT!!!! Keep at it....

Cheers

    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.

    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
    • First thought is to use a ram mount (to hold the ipad) + windscreen suction mount. The arms on the ram mount can be as long as you like, should be able to position the ipad pretty well with that setup.
