Is it worth changing fuel filters periodically as it always runs on Premium ,

i dont think mine has been done since new , anyone know the best place to buy one for an - R34

I regularly change my oil and oil filter , last time i replaced the fillter i put it on hand tight , thinking it will be easy to take off when i next service it , F....ck it was really tight ,Why ???????anyone else suffered

or you could go to repco/autobarn or the like and get a ryco filter. probably cost you less and do the same job.

and yes it should be changed periodically. the type of fuel has little to do with how much crap builds up in it. it has more to do with the condition of the tank the servo keeps the fuel in as well as the tankers it is transported in.

hey while were talking bout fuel filters , has anyone heard of other types, was talking to an old guy with a nissan patrol and he had some sort of fuel filter that had a clear section at one side of it, you could see the fuel and its colour and the crap that was in there,

or maybe this was just for diesel motors?? seemed like a pretty cool looking filter or maybe not neccesary?

AFAIk a fuel filter is a fuel filter. The only difference being the shape of it based on how OEM decided to mount it, and the connections.

The nissan ones seem to just have a rubber hose banged over each end with a clamp, whereas Honda ones have a big banjo bolt.

So if you want a different fuel filter it isnt going to hurt, you just have to figure out how to mount it and have appropriate fittings.

Got around to changing the filter over with an OEM unit , was about 70 bucks

Had fun removing the rubber hoses - Tight as , it had never been changed before .

It was full of black gunk mixed with fuel , anyway heres a pic of the internal filter

Seems to have smoother power delivery now !!!!!!

Its a fuel/water separator.When you can see water in the bowl,you open the tap in the bottom to drain it out.As water cant be compressed and diesels run such high fuel pressure its quite important. Plus the fact that many diesels are subject to nasty conditions and lots of contamination.

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same.     • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
