don't know where all this V8's rule the land and there's no replacement for displacement shit is coming from here??

cheap V8's running 10's??

My Bro's got a new malloo, so $75k, spent another $5k+ on OTR induction, tune, better exhaust etc etc, only ended up with 400rwhp from 6.2L

down the drags best he could manage with or without launch-control was 12.9@180km's,

in comparison I had an R33 GTR standard apart from highflow turbos and PFC =400rwhp ran 12flat@188km's

turbo upgrade and a tune should take care of most V8's

Sure is, stock internal VH45 with a big single Holset turbo on gentle boost - 360kw odd before the dyno complained about torque. If I remember rightly did quite skatey low 11s and awesome burnouts. On ET Streets I am sure it could have cut a 10.

How ill informed you are.... Who ever tells you that they break seals blah blah blah has obviously cut corners or never owned one. I have had numerous rotor's and only those that werent set up properly had issues. Mate has a car that gets its ass flogged every time it gets taken out and it has been around for years!!!! Makes 450rwhp though 3 mufflers so its no slouch either. Its so quiet it would just about pass an EPA inspection and it still makes the power so even the old stories of them needing to be noisy is all shit, you just have to build them properly. They would honestly cost no more to maintain than any modified Skyline

If i can get a 13BT supplied and rebuilt for $6k i am doing pretty well and your all shopping at the wrong workshops. This includes an imported 13BT which has been stripped and inspected - if the engine is crap it gets replaced till good parts are found, PTS seals, bridgeporting, the rest of the seals consist of a full Mazda seal kit. I obviously have the rest of the anciliaries off the import motor to use so no need to buy much more than a new clutch, turbo and manifold should i wish to upgrade them. As i said in a previous post, i know a guy who has built a 9 second Mazda for no more than $25k. Thats cost of the car, decent paint, nosecone change from an 808 front, full ANDRA tech cage, 9 inch, top loader blah blah blah

ok well the ones I have known had issues but they were older non injected ones..anyway not denying the rotary as a performer, but I dont think they are any better than a well setup 8.

And aside from traffic light races what else is it good for, a V8 can be use for a variety of purposes in just about anycar of any weight..a rotary is fast in a lightweight car and is good for nothing else..

Also a brand new V8 crate engine is about 6k as well and is easily replalced or fixed at any mechanic anywhere, your rotary f**ks up anywhere other than a major city and your stuck shipping parts everywhere..

The rx7 is awesome but that is all...a V8 makes any car awesome :D and im sorry if this offends you but anyone that denies the LS chev engine its glory is more of a knuckledragger than those they claim to be superior to..

At a cost of?.... Quite a lot i should imagine for the entire build from its inception to an engineered registered car. I cant see the video but given the OP is asking about a street car, with power on a budget, i can only assume this turboed VH41 R32 is registered and engineered and cost <$5k to build? :D

Its different but given the cost versus gain i dare say a modified RB26 would have given similar performance.

Apart from high klms, there should again be no issues with an older rotor. I have seen them with 120,000klms on them still going well. Sure it wasnt perfect, but we are talking about a tiny engine pushing about an FD for all those klms. Any small engine will be strugling after some time on the road

Your clearly on the wrong forum lol If you want to tow something i wouldnt be buying anything LS powered anyway.... a big ass 4WD is about all i would tow anything decent with these days.

theres too much torque and outright nasty grunt , i really think you'd need a gt30 to hose one off convincingly

I lent my mate my line not long ago and he was happily driving home when a ve SS did the rev and floor it off the lights, then revved again at the next set of lights.

Mate said my 1st and 2nd was lineball.. but sligtly sideways and wheelspinning haha, then 3rd just walked away. Garrett GT28 equipped. Reads 250rwkw atm, but on a low reading dyno. If my tires were warm, then 1st should walk away even (running s compounds).

I've got a vid of my 3rd gear and compared it to quite a few other ones on youtube such as c63amg, e92 v8 bmw m3 etc etc. Only reasonable car i found faster (and only slightly) was a porsche turbo. By reasonable, i am discounting the exotic supercars like koenigegg, veyrons etc etc.

The fact that you consider 120,000 to be high kms says it all lol.

this is an epic troll thread now.

everyone knows rotaries chew apex seals driving to the shops, sif you'd talk up a rotary, do anything and you gotta replace apex seals.

pretty much.

i heard if you arent blowing apex seals every 2 seconds, you have to watch out for weak connecting rods when trying to achieve high HP.

rotors just sound like a baddddd idea imo.

soooo, u compare ur in car footage to in car footage of other cars in third gear on youtube and come to the conclusion that ur car is faster than theirs that way?

For a start i never said anything about towing..

And if your beloved rotisserie is so good show me one skyline with a rotary in it cause I have already seen heaps with V8s..I have seen plenty of mazdas with SRs RBs JzS and v8s as well..

OP listen to this guy and stick a rotor in your skyline mate, its the only way you will beat a commo

Its a lot longer than some RB oil pumps last lol

Like i said, they are a small engine and you cant expect something that performs as they do to go for ever.

Please enlighten me to the variety of purposes you were referring to then....

and to quote yourself....

we gave up caring what the OP wanted along time ago dude :P

And good to see the maturity of SAU shine through yet again. Its quite comparible with NS.com at times i see.....

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
