Hey guys, just wondering if there is a way to calculate rwhp from 1/4 mile trap speed, and what time this car would be capable of with a better takeoff. My clutch was slipping on anything harder then a 2000rpm launch so i could never take off quickly.

weight: 1430kg

ET: 15.017

Trap: 97.22mph

60": 2.348

Try this Formula it works out the same as Moroso power calculator<br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; "><br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; ">Need speed and vehicle weight with driver<br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; "><br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; ">.00426 x MPH x = = x weight <br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; "><br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; "><br style="-webkit-box-shadow: none !important; ">.00426 x 118 x == x 3400 = 431.8 , same as Moroso if you set speed and check against weight.

Vehicle weight must be in pounds (2.2 pounds to a Kilo) and it gives rear wheel horsepower

So in your case it would be

.00426 x 97.22 x == x 3146 = 223.49 HP

Try this:

http://www.race-cars...calculator.html

1430kg= approx 3,153lb

I got 226rwhp (166.2rwkw) for you using that page.

I used this page with my Rx7 just to see when I took it to the drags and it wasnt too far off

I have always used that and same, it has always been close to what the car has run.

Having said that though, it should be used as a guideline only, as ratio's play a major factor in E.T.

Ye ratios make a big difference indeed.

When the OP said 1430, given its a N/A 300ZX - i simply based off my time of around 1500kg as there is no way a 300zx comes in @ 1430 with a driver :D

I still say 130-140rwkw with that MPH for a 1500-1550kg car

My 300ZX is 1430kg without driver :D Since its the slicktop 2 seater version(no targa tops, no un-necessary electronics etc). It came in at 1506(or so) on the weighbridge with me in it. Diff ratio is 4.08 if it makes a difference?? Since i have a new clutch going in soon, do you guys think a mid 14 would be on the cards?

that calculator is bogus, it says my car has 700rwhp, it has 500.

r33 with 10.8 @ 135mph.

It has probably been designed with a limited range of data, most likely the more common horsepower cars, eg 2-400hp range, your data is probably an outlier in the equation so of course it won't work for all cars.

All it is is a line of best fit.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
