Just trying to work out who would you guys/gals reccomend to perform a tune after I get a new turbo in the South East Melbourne.?

I belive that Trent (Chequered Tuning) wont be doing them anymore...........

I am nearly at the stage of doing the mods but cant if I cannot get a reputable tuner to remap my tune...

Regards,

Darren

Trent will still be tuning, but i believe will just have limited days to do so each week.

Otherwise, Paul @ Westside Chasers would be your next best bet. But definitely try Trent first

as for mpc........... go Trent or Paul

Nar its what Stao's from Hypergear is saying based on his GTST test turbo car.

he mentioned that with all the remaps "possibly" the r33 with a z32 ecu has bugs or something and it take longe to/if fix with Trent and he says he dosnt want to do these anymore?

I just hope he reconsiders as I am in the process of an ATR43 SS1.5, injectors etc and need it tuned soon...(weeks)

***************Just an update from forum from Nistune guys******************

I always get datacorruption issues on the test car

How do you know for sure its data corruption? Did you read back the maps andthey were all spiky or did the ECU stop running? These are the indicators thatsomething is corrupt, otherwise there is a different issue. I have to have achat to Trentabout this one

data in it gets changedquite so often, I'm not sure if that causes the issue.

Shouldnt cause the issue. If unsure read back the maps which were originally init and compare what was saved on your laptop after burning the tune

The Z32 ECU and nistunechip on R33GTST just didn't work probably on my cars. Which it's also thereason trentstopped doing those.

The main problem with using a Z32 ECU on an RB25DET is the knock sensors. Z32ECUs use the doughnut SR20 style knock sensors and RB25DET use the hose typeknock sensors. I suspect there is more sensitivity and your ECU is jumping toknock maps

We normally recommend disabling knock feedback during tuning for this reason. Also Nistune software will now indicate which maps it is running from at anytime. Boards dont lose their tune once a burn is performed as its stored toEEPROM.

Justa follow up. Found out that Pete did the install and was supplied with a 16 bitZ32 ECU

We officially only support (and have tested base maps) for the 8 bit models forRB25. Part numbers listed in our documents for 8 bit models should assist withfinding correct units

We have not used 16 bit models so haven't got experience with these but fromwhat Trentindicated there are issues with these ones as well as a glitch found with VEmap RPM tracing (fixed in 0.10.9 software release)

I just got an email from Trent @ Chequered and he is definately not interested in doing the Z32 ECUs in the R33 any more.

Which pisses me off big time as I purchased the bloody thing on his advice through someone that he put me in touch with

So the big question is if Trent (who was the supposed master of these things) doesn't want to touch them any longer are they just a crap solution???

I do not want to throw good money after bad and end up in a world of pain and frustration.

What now???

We are taking dealer ship with adaptronic ecus that run on Map sensors. Cost abit more but you save from the donor ecu, and Z32 AFM assembly. so works out to be about the same . I will speak to trent on Thursday to see whats the most best option within the budget, and will post up prices, all of our customers will receive a discount on those ECUs.

You can put up your Z32 ecu and nistune chip on ebay. I'm pretty sure some one will buy that package from you.

+1 for power fc on r33 gtst easily tuned no problems and not that expensive while you can also monitor whats happening with the controller. Just sell the it on ebay as stao said will go quick then get the power fc and take it to trent and you wont regret it.

Yes I am well aware of the Power FC thanks however they are not cheap and I already have the Nistune ECU... which up until yesterday thought that this was a good solution (in some ways it has advantages over the PFC).

PFC is good but seems to come with it's own set bugs and issues as well so it isn't perfect (and for that kind of money I expect it to be!)

Dr Drift is still keen to tune the Z32 for me..

It sounds like maybe Trent has just had a gut full of fixing other peoples f^@k ups and mucking around with these ECUs.

Trent is running a small business and has customers lining up for his services so he is in a position to pick and choose I guess.

(hopefully I will get the facts on this matter today through another contact)

As far as I know there are plenty of happy punters running the Z32 Nistune ECU in their R33 - or am I missing something?

    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
