Putting in my jjr oil cooler atm and had a accident which resulted in this pictured below to the fitting. Now im wondering since these jjr kits leak anyway without teflon tape will this still work now with the use of teflon tape?

Use a fine file and remove the burr. Do not mark the remaining good part of the taper, because if you're decently lucky, the other fitting will still seal up quite nicely against the remaining bit. I reckon there's plenty of mating surface left. Do not put teflon tape on there. That would be bodgy.

If I got desperate with what you've got there, and wasn't willing to remove it and weld a new one on, I'd screw on a suitable mating fitting with another male on the back side of it, and then seal weld it to the original fitting. That would basically just move it out from where it is.

Yeah I get that part about there still being enough taper left but with these jjr kits and fittings there dodgy and everyone who hasnt used teflon on the thread has had them leak. Im not putting teflon on the taper just on the thread.

Dont ever- ever- ever- ever use thread tape on a jic/dash fittings. It will cause them to leak.

You might be lucky, cut off the protusion and smooth it back flat with fine wet and dry. Do not remove too much, the fitting needs to be flat.

If you have to, run a thin film of loctite on the mating surface.

+1

Are the fittings weld in or screw in? If they are screw in it would be worth getting a replacement. Only on iPhone so can't see the photo great, just looked like a screw in one

Yeah but thats if you apply it to all the threads if you leave 1 or 2 threads it wont be able to break off. Im using some other liquid sealant i got from enzed its rated to work on oils oetrols gases etc. Ive used it on my oil sensors and its worked hopefully will work here aswell.

Maybe pointing out the obvious. But if you know it's going to leak anyway (you said the JJR kits leak in your first post) then why not just buy a new oil cooler?

Oil is the life blood of your engine/turbo, something as simple as this ruining that would make you regret 'bandaid' fixing it now

Yeah theyll leak if used without and sealant but if you use sealant correctly and it doenst leak theres nothing wrong with the kit just abit more labour involved but if you get it all right in the end with no leaks it will do the job. Although if I was going to buy one again I will just fork out double and get a good one for ease of installation but thats not to be said I can't make this one work just got to be careful and make sure its all done right.

ah ok fair enough

I thought they you meant they just leak no matter what

Seen as you have nothing to do, try filing/sanding back the burr so that its nice and flush and make sure its nice and clean.

You want to make sure theres nothing that the female end of the fitting can break off that might go into your oil, if you get what I mean

Nothing to lose so worth a shot

An update on my progress I got it all setup and all and just use the liquid thread sealant on all the threads had no leaks besides for that damaged one so took it off and smeared a light coat of the sealant over the damaged chaffer and let it cure over night and so far running no leaks anywhere. The length of hoses are redicolous im not very happy with how I had to mount them in order to fit them in but what can you do.

FWIW I'm not rough as guts like some, AND I use a JJR kit on my race car, AND I didn't resort to dodgy thread tape usage. I simply assembled it correctly and carefully, and it's fine.

I also found the line length ok, but I did mount my remote filter behind the driver side tower ;)

I did however find a large piece of alloy swarf inside a dash fitting. Not so good.

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
