WOW been a while since i updated this thread, sorry guys thought i was upto date here. Time to catch up.

When she came into Canada

Engine is sound, electrical could do with some work tho as expected.

Cleaning out the car and realized it needed new carpets and some trim repair. So i thought F it, just strip the damn thing and build it right the first time instead of doing things gradually. So i started to gut her last night.

Funny what you find in a car this age, plus I'm glad i did it. found that the seats were missing bolts to hold them down.

photo5.jpg

hmmmm interesting rear seat belts, bolted from both ends with no buckles, looks like left overs from race harnesses. The seats are recoaros with bride rails and there was some bride stickers inside the car. If this car could talk!!!

photo41.jpg

I'm gonna continue stripping it down till its just the drivers seat and steering wheel left.

gonna get new carpets and re do the interior trim in suede

Picked up rear Skyline R32 seats and they fit!!! little bit of modding to look perfect but brings up the interior to the modern age a little.

Trying to figure out a way to make the ride a lot smoother than it is and found out a few guys had done S13 Coilover conversions. There was not a lot of info out there on the swap but it was possible with some custom work done to the control arms etc.

almost stripped

on the way to the shop

I ordered a set of Apexi S1 coilovers and bought a set of s13 spindles, hubs and cailpers to upgrade the handling and change the rears from drums to discs.

IMG_1559.jpg

Pulled the old shocks and springs out and OMG. only 2.5 coils from the cut springs f-ing ridiculous lol

I was blown away at how new these look after the refurb.

Test fitment on the new

Front coilovers will take a bit of work installing. We have to extend the control arms of the s13 and will have to figure out something with the steering rod too.

Rears is a straight fit just need to make an adapter for the top becuase the skyline is a 3 bolt at the rear and 13 coilovers are a 2 bolt.

Rust Removal has already been done on inside and coated. Bee Quite sound deadening material is being used for all the interior.

IMG_1631.jpg

Dash is going to get sent to ASC to get wrapped with leather. bubble and cracks need to be taken care of.

Going to paint the interior myself. Gonna change it from gray to black, using SEM products apparently the best stuff to use in the bizz. Some of the paints are like $50 a bottle!!!!!!

Update on the body work. Trunk lip was remade in bondo in certain spots where the rust had eaten it away.

To fit the coil overs to the rear we'll have to make adapters. Brinkworth fabbing some up.

Old rear set out.

New ones in and Drums refreshed. Looking pimp!!!

Like i mentioned before the fronts are way more complicated to fit. we had basically two options, butcher the front coilovers and weld them in. Didn't really feel like potentially ruining brand new $2000 coilovers lol so we went with option 2. Getting s13 control arms and spindles and modding them to fit.

We had to extend the s13 control arms and make them a bit of conbination of c210 and s13 control arms to make them fit.

Had to fab some bushings as we couldn't find c210 bushings. found out that 80's VW Golf bushing fit with a little bit of tapering.

Fronts all in and looking good,

He even found Chevy cavalier sway bar bushings that will be a good replacement for the skyline ones

bolt pattern conversion caps for the rear coilovers machined up and looking sweet!!!

Only thing left for the front is the steering linkages need to be extended then the front is done!

Shortened some universal sway bar bushing and they are a perfect fit

Next is install the sound system. Planning on putting 4 - 4inch speakers inside, 10" sub in the back running off one amp. At the same time do a battery relocation to the trunk.

Anyone done a battery relocation and wire tuck on a C210?

dude firstly, absolutely amazing job!!! im dead-set blown away.

secondly, is there any chance you could post up a recipe for the front s13 coilover conversion? i would kill to get my conversion looking that neat. ive gone a totally different route but yours looks WAY better.

the only plus side to the set-up im doing is that it will be fully adjustable. but yours is just so clean and stock looking.

the million dollar question is, how does it handle? would like to know about the driving experience now that you've done the swap.

man my jaw is still droppped to the floor.

just 2 more questions mate. can you tell me what you used for front brake lines?

and how much were those LCAs to get made?

much appreciated :-)

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
