If they are bolted to your hub then they aren't illegal as far as i know... only the ones that sit loose are dangerous/illegal??

I have R34 GTR wheels on my 33GTR and recon it would look alot better with spacers... i love these wheels and dont want another set - so what else could i do besides spacers?

Anyone got any?

sidewaymambo - do you mind if i ask you a few details?

What spacers did you get?

how much did they space your wheels by?

have you noticed any difference in driving/handling?

how much did they cost you?

is it as simple as just taking your wheel off, bolting the spacer in, then bolting your wheel back on?

do you have any before/after photos of your car?

THanks :P

answer:

1) A&T-R

2) 30mm for the front, 20mm for the rear.

3) Less under-steer, went a few tracl day, much better in conoring.

4) PM me for the cost..

5) yes, very simple installation, however I went to my mechanic's place borrow the torque wrench for the right tightness..

6) I don't have pics, but they line up with guard..looks sexy..

and they give you wider track = better handling:)

v8skylineman, have you never done any illegal mods to your car?

Yes I have, but what sort of person would I be to promote illegal activities.....

I have spacers and they do all the things everyone has said they do, but they are still illegal.....(in QLD anyway)

yeh i have the same type of spacer as sidewaymambo, cept mine are purple color. they bolt onto the hub and is just the matter of putting on the bolts onto the hub. as far as any problems i don't see to have any. i will be taking them off and selling them soon tho as im getting new rims.

Geeze,

From what u guys are saying, i better not buy any set of rims that "don't fit my r33"......GOR33 is selling his set and says u need spacers to clear the front brakes, I was really keen to get the rims (For Sale Section title "18's rims for sale") .....anyone recommend i get them?

umm... i'm not sure exactly but when i pull them off to fit on new rims i can measure it for you. I use it on a r33 gtst.

how much i plan on selling them? i'm not sure.. nothing much.. i'll see when i pull them off and take pics and msg you and we'll go from there i guess.

im in queensland and have been told by many engineers that they are legal, safe and practicle, provided they are the bolt on adapters. and for around $150, i think they are a good consideration if nice rims are in question.

ive already posted a thread on this topic if u want to look back and find out what i was told about them.......basicly its up to u, some people would rather not use them, others dont mind, it depends on the person, however as far as i know they are fine, hey , ive been told wide body porches have them, if its ok for porche then its good enough for me!

You can buy 2mm, 4mm, 8mm spacers in a die cast metal. They sit on the stud bolts, but are only held tight once the wheel is on and the nuts are put on. The other downside of these is that they shorten the length of your studs. You can buy the cheap spacers for about $25 a pair depending on thickness at any good tyre store or performance shop!

yeh i think they are the ilegal type boj01, they have to be bolt on items, and whats this russian roulette business, gee some people have a wild imagination, look if you are useing them on a race track and for heavy drifting and stuff then yeh i might be a tad concerned, but having them on for everyday street use, i cant see where the huge problem will be. and whats all this talk about putting huge strain on wheel bearings and axles, where does stress go when ya sideways around a corner doing 100 km/h on a normal set up, and how does ya gearbox like high rev luanches at every traffic light?

like i said before everyone has a different opinion, if u have them on with intentions to take it easy then there shouldnt be a problem, but if you want to thrash ya car, then the spacers, along with other things, will always cuase you problems.

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
