I'd be happy for you to post the response you gave me here. Tell everyone here what is it exactly that you said when I asked the same information of you when you called me out in another thread? Good luck finding anything because you never responded. Even when I then called you out on it in your own build thread after having aonther dig at me, you still failed to provide the simple data which I asked for.

You have not personally built the cars that are making the hp or running the fuel systems or seeing what happens to cars with inadequate fueling. You just read stuff on a forum and spit it out like its gospel. Apart from your own car, do you actually have any real world experience or is it just you pulling your dick over dyno figures again? I asked for simple figures from you. YOU NEVER PROVIDED THEM. I told you before and I'll tell you once more, if you cannot provide the simple data I have asked for, then your claims of hp are guesses at best.

Glad to see once again you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about with regards to me... But keep assuming away, it's amusing :)

Thanks for your imput guys, I now understand to make the most out of the E85 i need to upgrade injectors, Didn't mean for this to turn into an arguement but there are a few people who seem to just want to argue instead of just helping and telling the facts.

So on 98 pump fuel i can push 360 370rwkw max....... but if im only just going to be able to crack 400rwkw on E85 with the 800cc injectors, im obviously better off fitting something like the 2000ID's and making the most out of the E85.

Definitely better to have more than enough fuel than not enough. 2000's might be a bit overkill though so make sure your tuner will be happy with the end result but from our experience with these, they shouldn't be much of a problem as the injector time can be pulled right down with no real adverse effects

Wow. Didn't really read the whole umpteen pages on this thread on power vs rwkw vs inj size vs afr vs dyno vs mph.

What I can tell you is what I saw today. On pump caltex E85 winter mix.

Standard 1Jz.

2 x 044's

2 bar fuel pressure at idle.

1000cc inj (ID)'s

powerglide

no engine work, i mean none at all. Just bolt ons.

This car until recently was Australia's fastest 1jz.

Engine made 500rwhp on 26 psi at 11.4:1(no gas). For what ever reason...... we had to add more fuel through the computer (eg we couldn't jam any more fuel into the nos fuel jet... or lack there of) Made 640rwhp on gas with a baby shot.

Manages to max the injectors at 460rwhp on E85 at 10.4:1 or 780 deg EGT. We have made over 800rwhp on this setup with a manual with the same fuel setup. Was it safe.... no. Where we controlling the injectors.... no way.

It was just a hit and miss.

you guys are missing one massive factor here. What AFR do you need to run to keep the engine alive..... is it 13:1..... or 9.8:1......... how much power is it making? how much surface area does the piston had to disapate heat? How good are your valve seats????....What are your EGT's?????

I have also seen 640rwhp on 800cc sards on E85 on an RB20......... yes I know....... But im not actually kidding..........

We ramped the fuel pressure to massive levels, tuned the engine to make peak power at peak torque and not rev it and had massive fuel flow too do it.

Did I let the engine leave like that? No way. AFR's where leaner that I would like them (proberbly helping the power output) (and probably where most tuners would leave it )

There are a lot of things you can get away with in the performance industry...... good quality fuel flow is defiantly not one of them

Edited by HYPED6

The more pressure you can add is better for the injectors. until the dont open at all because the coils in your injectors are too week.

Also... the more fuel pressure you add the less your pumps will flow.

^^ yeah i get asked alot why i wont just leave the injector duty on a car @ 100% if the afr's are fine..... (as i always back it back down). Honda injectors seem ok as the factory setup generally runs them at 100% in the std tune, nissan 370's do really weird things over time and various other makes start to do all kinds of weirdness... so regardless of the customers wishes its a steadfast rule that i wont run them @ 100%

100% is something to be avoided even if your tailpipe afr is ok as the individual cylinders may be far from it.

I currently have 800cc with 2530's and was advised by my tuner if i want to run E85 i really need 2 O44's and 1000cc if thats any help.

Well as you can see here you will need to go bigger than 1000cc to get the most out of it..

I have one other quick question for the tuning gurus......... In regards to my setup which is a 26 with dash 5's..... Assuming my fuel system and supporting mods are up to the task, roughly what is the maxium amount boost can safely run on BP98 before you start to see det and it becomes unsafe???

I know its a fairly general question and every setup is different, but im curious to see how far over 20psi most people go whilst still being on the safe side of things and still having the car thrash-able so to speak??

run the large nismo intank and the 1000cc and you will be good for 420rwkw

Also, to get the best out of the Nismo pump they require a re wire.

We have seen these pumps fitted and flow 2.7 ltr per min at 40psi.

Re wire the old girl with big red wires and got 4.8 at 40psi. And yes the wires must be red.

Yeah currently have the nismo in tank was planning on running 2 x O44's a nice undermount surge tank if i can find one and 1000cc or bigger still looking into it all..

Boost a pump is a nice toy too :P

  • 1 month later...

old thread, but 380kw was at 11.5-12:1 afr. (after head gasket poped, standard cast pistons like new, zere detonation and no hot spots.

the actual stoich of e85 is like 9:1 afr, but after adding the extra fuel to achieve the same afr as 98ron on the wideband it is at the correct stoich if that makes any sense.

2530's yeah? don't think there is reall a need for surge tanks etc - i looked into all of that. I've got the Nismo in tank, 2530's, ID1000's and all good :) 400rwkw on E85 at 21psi

although, this 'boost' mod to the Nismo tank sounds interesting :D

Yeah it is a little over kill. But when it comes to fuel i'd rather be loooking at it than for it lol.. The other main reason is that when running E85 i would assume that it is diffcult to keep it above half a tank full so running a surge tank will allow me to run the tank down a bit more and also when i got to the odd drag/circuit meet reduce weight by not needing a full tank.

Leaves a little fat' in the fuel system that if i decide to upgrade this will not be a limiting factor on my set up.

Just not sure between 1000cc or 2000cc. What pressure and injecter duty cycle do you run the 1000cc's at with 400rwkw?

    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.

    • sensible choice....and all 32s should be in yellow
    • Run it in open loop for now, and drop the frequency down. This lowers the resolution and requires more duty cycle to do anything, however good to troubleshoot.
    • According to Josh, one of our local Americans, it seems the USA still can't get turbo systems quite right at a lot of places, so possible that they're not running great at all, but they've just not complained as NFI about getting it right...
