I have mostly everything stock on my RB25DET but I love the sound of upgraded cams and wanted some extra power. Put you in perspective. Car previously made 204rwkw on dyno before upgrade. After poncam upgrade and a 100cpsi cat the car now makes 214.8rwkw. So there's not a huge difference for the money, BUT, my torque curve improved more and is definitely more noticeable through mid range RPM.

All in all you'll get people telling you they don't make a difference and there's no point upgrading or others saying it is worth it. I consider it a good mod and I personally love the sound of my car after the upgrade ;)

Yeah as other said mid range its worth it. After adding poncams and e85 I gained 30-40 kw everywhere throughout the rev range and improved repsonse so I would say there worth it. Just remember to do your valve springs while you do them.

I had these installed on my RB25.

After picking the car up from the workshop I was slightly disappointed, since the 'improvement' was barely noticeable.

Also I could not hear any difference in engine sound (contrary to what one user wrote here)

I got the cams for a good price and my cambelt was due for a change.

So I went for the whole package (while at it)

I doubt I would do this 'mod' again, the $$$ are better invested in a stronger turbo.

Still, if you can get a 'pair' on the cheap you might go for it (while doing the cambelt).

The cams will definitely not hurt performance, and possibly in connection with all the STAGE II mods they make more of a pronounced difference.

I installed them for mid range and fuel efficiencies. Not sure if they made any difference because I also bolted in a 3076 and HKS cast mani at the same time. I've still got my std cams and have toyed with the idea of swapping them in and out for back to backs - but to be honest ICBF. I'm still going to use the cams, they are already in, and I just don't care enough to do it [plus you can snap a stick if you don't watch it].

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
