Fully Street Legal German R32 Gtst Drifter

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

i want to introduce my R32 GTST to you.

Here's the story:

Since 2009 i was looking for a Skyline, first i was looking for a R34 coupe, later for the 4 door.

But in germany we have a BIIIG problem: the united kingdom with some shit boxes of skylines full of rust and out of service is just around the corner, so over here are a lot of these for stupid money.. its really sad..

So i wanted to import my car directly from JP, but not an r34. I saw so much videos from ebisu, full of R32's, so i wanted to know why they like them so much. So i started to investigate a lot and it sounds quit interesting: they wasn't very expensive, the RB20 is a very reliable, high reving engine and it doesn't cost much to get more HP.

So i decided to look for one with my importer. It took about 4 month (..) to find my actual car.

When it arrived, i was a bit shocked: the paint was quit horrible, the carbon bonnet was in bad condition, with a crack, which i have fixed:

Also i ripped everything out of the car, i just wanted to get a clean shell with 2 seats, a engine and 4 wheels on it wub.gif

Here are the pictures:

It was really hard to get all outlaughing-smiley-014.gif

And my best idea on that afternoon:

Lets stickerbomb the door

The next day i installed my Takata 4 Point 3" saftybelt

Over the summer i had no interest to spend money into parts, i just wanted to drive/drift itcheers.gif

I COULD register the car for this year, it just passed the german TÜV (Technischer Überwachungs Verein - technical inspection group), which is in australia the road worthy certificate. Now the winter is on the way, so its quit stupid to drive it. Especially because when there is just a 0.01% change of snow, the administrative authorities give the order to strew salt on the streets and what that makes with your car should be known..

So over the winter i will paint it in a really cool color, also fit +20mm over fenders for the rear arches, to let it look just like its driven by an bad ass thanks.gif

I also will do a "little" bit tuning on the engine, let me just say: RB24DETthumbsup.gif

(I hope to get help and support with my project, in europe is nobody who has done that. I hope i'm not to stupid for it sweat.gif)

When something happened, i will post it right here.

Hope you enjoyed my story, have a nice day guys.

Cheers

Hi guys,

first: thanks for the welcoming.

Time to post some news.

I just ordered 6 650cc injectors for my RB24 project, my 2 way diff is also coming back to me on monday. So it starts to get hot.

Oh, just forgot, the design for the paintjob is done, now i just need to wait 2 month and buy the lacquerworship.gif

cheers

Daniel

With an autobahn outside the front door, it may not be an oversized turbo.

devil.gif But to be honest, i want to use it as a drift machine, not a AMG killer, thats to boring pinch.gif

I just read in the 24 site RB24 thread that he used that turbo, so i thought it would be a good idea.

I'm looking for a turbo that isn't to lazy an starts spooling at maximum 3.500 RPM.

But now there is a problem: the bodywork is going to be more expensive than I thought, so i would run the stock RB20 and buy a exchange engine to build up rolleyes.gif

Oh, here is a little update as well:

Just bought a pair of rear overfenders

R32 overfenders

cheers

Daniel

    • Howdy friends, So this evening I had a need to remove the rear compressor turbo pipe (long story, but I'm replacing it due to a bolt snapping off in the pipe and managing to then snap an extraction bit in the broken bolt, fun times -_-). The rear bolt is a bit of a bastard and very little room to get good leverage. I was able to get a 12 mm socket onto the bolt head, but none of my ratchets were able to fit, so I put together a "stubby" socket wrench to get it out and it worked surprisingly well 🙂. In the past I've "made" tools by cutting down spanners and bending them with a torch etc, but this 3D printed wrench was way less effort. I'll be keeping this one in my "special tool draw" from now on for sure ^_^b https://www.printables.com/model/868973-half-inch-stubby-socket-wrench
    • It looks even better in Person
    • It's good, but not as good as some people make it out to be on social media. Yes, you can feel the torque come in earlier, yes, it does make the car feel more lively below 4000rpm, and yes, it does feel more responsive, but it's not this 'unicorn' mod.  Everyday driving? Below 100km/h on Australian roads, it's worth it. At 110km in 6th gear mine will sit on about 2860rpm. Doing a Motorkhana or a small circuit? Yes, it's worth it. Doing Texas style speed runs? Prob not. Do you use the gears more? Yes and No. Doing 60/70km on most roads, I'm using the gears just like any other Getrag. 80km and above, you use 5th and 6th more often. Absolutely no issues driving with the 33 A-LSD. Didn't change the front diff, only changed the C&P wheel. Some people say to upgrade to a Quaife etc, but i've had no issue with torque steer or having it wander all over the road. The one thing that no-one really addresses is the issue of the Speedo being out. It's either use a speedo corrector, find a 33 gearbox speed sensor, or use an aftermarket display with GPS speedo.
    • Anyone know or have the timing specs for these cams?   i have messaged JUN for two months with zero response    they are 288in/288ex 11.6 lift
    • That would be a rarity. You can emulate the function of the stalk just by bridging the appropriate pins in the connector. If you can make it function correctly by doing so, then the wiring etc is OK and it is the stalk.
