Won't see the block for a couple of weeks, but thanks for the offer!!

Got the HKS front pipes today as well as,

CP pistons kit

valve guides

Ross toughbond balancer

The block, crank, studs, balancer, clutch and flywheel are now at the engine reconditioners to get cleaned, balanced etc.

Now is it worth it getting the block grout filled to the bottom of the lower water jacket welsh plugs....

Block is getting the full treatment then grubscrewed. Got to remember to tell the engine guy to drill out the oil returns in the block too.

Original engine was pretty clean. Crank, was pretty good, but we shall see.

Windsor engine reconditioners are doing the machining.

The modified oldschool g clamp my dad gave me years ago to do pushrod engines won't cut it on these heads :pirate: , because they are so deep.

And I couldn't be bothered buying one, making/modifying stuff is cool.

keen to hear how much this will be, let me know what Steve does and how much as i've got to get my head sorted out aswell

Went the engine shop this arvo and did some stuff.

Started with weighing the pistons, and difference between lightest and heaviest was 1.1 grams. Weight matched CP pistons to less than 0.1 gram to each other after using linisher and digital scales.

Weighed gudgeon pins and they were all the same.

Then was told that the engine oil could make up 5 grams difference in weight in an engine. Oh well at least they are all the same.

Drilled out the head oil returns to the size of the head gasket.

Crank will get grubscrewed as they use aluminum plugs on the ends of the big end oil drill holes.

Also got to setup a 304 V8 crank with bob weights on a crankshaft balancing machine, what a pain!! At least inline 4's, 6's, 8's don't need bob weights, you just need the pistons, rods etc to be spot on and all the same.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
