I'm finding I'm having to reset the Air bag light every 3-4 weeks. Is this usually a symptom of a faulty connector or something more serious? I presume if a module is faulty, it would throw a code straight away.

I somehow got the airbag light into a diagnostic mode and it flashed once and then ten times and repeats. I couldn't find any reference to this code anywhere. Anybody know what this code refers to?

Thanks

Get it on a Consult 3 unit, that way you can get a description of the fault. I think the seat switch contacts play up occasionally. These can be shorted I think, my aftermarket rails came with a plug in module, but it showed zero resistance when i measured across the pair of wires.

Does yours have 4 yellow wires in the plug under the seat, or only two? Some have an anti dive ram in the seat, some don't.

I couldn't clear mine manually using the procedure you used, my airbag light flashed for many years before I bought the consult3, that cleared it instantly and it has never come back.

  • 3 weeks later...

Purchased Nissan Datascan and an adaptor and read the codes. (works well with the 300GT)

Came up with a B1166 which I gather to be LH side (passenger) floor harness or seat belt pretensioner.

So what are the chances that its just a bad connector?

Thanks

  • 3 weeks later...

Ive had the flashing light for a week now. Did both man resets several times the most they last is a day. Took it Michael at Revolution electronics and he ran a scan. It detected a fault with the "clock spring" at the base or the main airbag. A new one costs $200 from Nissan and is on order.

I was curious if anyone else has experienced this? I cant see too many here that have it.I had issues with my drivers seat 4 months ago but the scan found nothing there ) maybe that triggered it. Michael says seat belt pretensioner/ clock springs are common with cars this age. Mines a late 05.

Mechanics are good at lines like that to stop you questioning them.. clock springs aren't a big issue in general for all cars. my J30 maxima was 18 years old when it died and it never had clock spring problems. and plenty of 10+ year old cars with seatbelt pre-tensioners that aren't having issues either.

I know the seat base harness is a common source of SRS faults on the V35.

Hi Scott- I saw the scanner code detected was the one for clock spring so I have to go with that. Mine is series 2- 11/2005. I dont know if you can rely on an airbag component being second hand ?.other than door looks been brilliant for the 7yrs I ve had it.Is it something anyone can install or safer bet to leave to expert?

Thanks

Well so much for that- plugged in my old seat belt buckle (broken clip) and did another manual reset and the Airbag light is gone..Now its in to Nissan & Nissan Only - now what are the chances of getting my $75 back for the scan...did i hear whistles..

Were you being sarcastic?. As I said it doesnt look like the clock spring after all- because plugging in my broken old buckle & doing a reset cleared the airbag warning light!.

Maybe its a temp thing but I will hold off & just replace my buckle from nissan $77.00

For the clock spring Nissan quoted $198 ex gst. Did someone take $100 to fit it

no i was charged 315 dollars from northside nissan for just the part , a mate fitted it , from my experience the clock spring is main issue for flashing light, once the spring is replaced youll have to do the reset process, if your steering wheel has been removed in the past ,then the spring would be high on my list of possible faults

I could do a clock spring from an 80,000k Stagea for $100. As I said, I have never had to replace one, and I have had my steering wheel off countless times, as well as customer cars in for cruise control installs etc.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
