Good day everyone!

I am having some issues and about to give up. I just bought an r33 GTR FMIC and was hoping to put in on my R33 GTST. After removing the bumper and looking how it would mount, it doesn't look possible. I've thought about just turning around and selling it and just buying a cheaper intercooler kit specific to the GTST. Any thoughts? I need help please!!!!!!!!!!!! I've attached a pic of what I am working with.

Thanks,

Zach

Is it just because it's not made for it? I have been checking out some FMIC's for the GTST and most don't seem to have much holding it up......Would you mount the GTR intercooler or buy one just for the GTST? Just curious cause I have never put up a front mount before.

Find someone who can weld. Improvise! Locate the core where the pipes have somewhere to go and then you just need to weld on a couple of tabs top and bottom and bolt them to something solid.Get a thinner aircond fan if necessary and cut away any non -structural bits that get in the way.

Nothing a afew zip ties can't solve... although you will need to cut a hole in the chassis on the cold side of the intercooler which might cause issues down the track if the car is defected and a full inspection required, GTRs have this hole done at the factory

Cheaper to buy a whole kit than get piping made up...

That's just been my experience though, $1000 for custom piping hot and cold side in stainless with a few things welded into the piping...

Sorry, didn't notice you'd said passenger side. I think on GTRs the two turbo outlet pipes just go down through the same two holes that are in front of the airbox that GTSts use for the intercooler, then join under the guard before going around to the cooler inlet.

So you have custom made piping to suit a gtr cooler on a gtst? If so your set, if your trying to use gtr piping then it's more of a headache cause of the front facing plenum and the holes are in different locations meaning you will have to cut holes etc etc

damn, the shop who did this work for you is laughing all the way to the bank.

you can get an off the shelf complete jap kit for this price.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
