hey guys, recently bought some rpf1's for my 34gtr. they came fitted with some 265/35 r18"s and look stretched.

im looking to fit some new rubber asap but just struggling with what to choose size wise!

i have seen ppl with 34gtrs with same size and offsets running 275/35s, 285/35, 285/30 and 395/30! im looking to fill the guards out. would a 30 profile be too much of a reduction in sidewall height with a 285? i was looking at the federal 595 evos. would this size throw my speedo out too much??

really stuck on the one fellas!! any help would be greatly appreciated :P

expensive car, expensive wheels, and youre looking at cheap tyres?

a 10.5" wide wheel should imo have a 305 tyre on it..but I doubt you would fit them in the guards, so either a 275 or 285.

I was running 275/35s on my 9.5" wheels. I think the 395/30 is a typo haha. I would use either 295/35/18 or 315/30/18. I have 265/35/18 Federal RSR Tyres on now and love em, now just hoping they last a while, other reports say they will.

sorry yes, i ment 295/30. i didnt realise federal were that bad zebra? i had the evos on a few other cars and found them to be very decent.

ok will have a hunt around tomorrow for larger sizes in the 35 profile range.

they are decent..but there are much much better out there, depends on your budget though I guess

forgive me though because I thought I read 595 SS and not evo >_<

the largest federal make in 18" is a 285! however the 595evos come in a 285/35 profile, yet the rsr only in a 30.. a 285/30r18" is too low a profile and throws the speedo out crazy... apparently.

as i said before i have had the evos or previous cars and had nothing but praise.. however i must admit i never pushed them to the limit.

i wonder if i could fit 305/30r18's or 315/30r18s on a 10.5" rim?? plenty or quality available in thoese sizes

yes my house-mate had the 595 ss on his jzx100.. and the grip level was non existant and the noise from them was crazy...

i found the evos to have a much thicker and solid side wall then the ss and gripped much better. the said house-mate has actually just fitted evos and now struggels to break traction.. he still can, just requires much more effort

i use a set of Hankook ventus RS-3 275 /35/18 if your still not happy use some spacers !

Because they are cheap tyres which does not provide any sort of grip? They are probably the better ones of the cheap tyres around but still, get some decent tyres

this is a daily driven car here guys. may i ask which federals you have had personal experience with and exactly what the bad points were? im only asking for help fellas :) , i had read good things about them... but if you say they are rubish then i will keep looking. if im going to do track work i will of course use something much more suitable. thanks guys

They aren't, there is a difference between the 595SS and RS-Rs though.

Especially if you're only street driving, the evos/ss would be fine. RS-Rs for the occasional track day and are a great tyre for street even, but they will wear quite quickly. 140 tread wear.

If you are "street-driving" get some china tyres like ling longs or zeetex then since you are only "street-driving"

I dont get why ppl send 2-3k on rims and spend 600 bucks on tyres cause they are only "street-driving"

Thanks for the input ichi-go.. im simply asking questions and for advice. what is with the " street driving" comment? im asking for advice on a decently priced tyre to go on my day-to-day car.

For the Toyo R1Rs, SAU trader Taleb Tyres should have them in stock at a great price.

Buy the best tyres you can afford, they are the only thing in contact with the road, I would rather spend more money on quality tyres than try and save money by buying pov spec.

And as long as your not running stupid camber/alignment settings they will last a while anyway.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
