he was only off the track because Hamilton forced him off...

if you squeeze someone that hard, you have to realise it comes with a risk of collision.

The whole situation was caused by Hamilton, who had no chance of hanging on to that position anyway.

Exactly.

Hamo's arrogance kicked in as usual - and Pasta did what he does best.

Hamo was going to be overtaken anyway, he knew this - so just give up, take the loss of position and don't miss out on any points.

His post-race kinda summed that up the way he avoided the question "i dont remember". cops arse he didn't. He remembered exactly and new he had a part to play regardless of who was "as fault" as determined by the stewards

No way.

Hamilton was brilliant there (I hate hammy). Shoved him off the track leaving zero room. You either yield and slot back in to overtake elsewhere or crash. Most drivers have the common sense not to crash... He only had 1.5ish laps to go? Sorry but if I was in Hamilton's shoes I would've done the same and defended like crazy.

don't the 2012 regs read that you must leave a car width available? Hamilton drove Maldenardo off the track, and Maldenardo hit him. IMO they both should get a penalty

I think the rule is along the lines of they are only allowed to move once to cover an attack, they cannot repeatadly attempt or something.

It was raised in i think Shanghai or KL

he can run him out of room on the exit, under braking is where the new rules stop people like schumacher chopping you off the track

Hamo did the right thing and pushed Pastor wide as he had the racing line, Pastor refused to accept the failed attempt and brain faded for a fourth time now, taking out Hamo and himself by hitting him in the rear of the coke bottle

What hamo was doing by keeping him behind is what called racing, what pastor did is called gp2

Pastor kept his foot in it, while off track, and had nowhere to rejoin BUT into the side of his opponents car. Total and utter balls up. Yet again

Is he far enough up the side for Hamo to leave him a car width? It kinda looks like he was.

If Maldonado didn't back out at the apex of the first turn then it was always going to end in tears when Hamo turned into the apex of the next corner.

the rules actually say "deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track is not permitted"

very harsh to penalise Maldonardo IMO. Penalise both or neither.

what was truly appalling was how Senna was penalised for the contact with KK

Agreed, was quite surprised to see him get a drive through for being driven into.

How did you feel about the defending that Rosberg did a few races ago (can't remember which track  ) on the straight?

Hamilton had the racing line...Maldonado was never going to make that pass around the outside into that corner, so he should have yielded and set himself up for the next few corners.

He would've passed him no worries, but he got impatient and drove straight into him instead.

As Ivan stated, it's called racing. If there was 10 laps to go Hamilton would've more than likely let him passed without a fight as he would've lost time defending a position he was never going to keep, but with a lap and a half to go, any race worth their salary is going to defend hard.

i think this was covered slightly a bit back, but didnt anyone else notice the way that webber in his pre-race interview felt like he was swaying towards fezza team.

if he went number 2 there i beleive he would be taking a step backwards. number 1 driver or bust........

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
